If you're an avid reader of the Raging Rouge beauty blog, you're no stranger to gloLip and its plumping prowess! For Spring 2009, glominerals has added two new shades, perfect plum– a universally flattering shade of purple, and cherry– a bright and cheerful shade of red.
How do they work? glominerals has developed a formula that utilizes Marine Collagen Atelocollagen sphere technology (to volumize your pucker!), lip-stimulating Capsicum Extract (derived from pepper, this is the spicy ingredient that makes your lips tingle after application!) and emollient Safflower Oil to keep lips their softest.
Retail price is $16 per gloss. Buy one at gloskincare.com.
Expert Tips and Tricks from gloMinerals:
1) Apply a small dab just in the center of the lips to create the illusion of full, pouty lips.
2) Combine with your favorite glominerals gloPrecision lip pencil for added color and shine.

The very pale need not shy away from this tint by glominerals! I am–quite literally–as white as a ghost, and have used it with much success. The trick for the fair is to use it as a base, underyour foundation! After applying moisturizer, apply a thin layer of gloSheer tint base bronzing gel to the areas that would become naturally darker with sun exposure. I apply it to the apples of the cheeks, the bridge of the nose, and the middle of the forehead. Blend, and then apply your foundation. The glow looks totally natural, as if you managed to catch a few rays during your lunch break.
As always, glominerals is thinking of your overall skin health, not just immediate beauty! The gloSheer formula includes green tea and vitamins A, C and E to help the skin look radiant all the time.
Retail price is $30, check it out online at gloskincare.com.
Expert Tips and Tricks from gloMinerals:
1) Apply with the gloLiquid foundation brush for sheer bronze finish over the entire face.
2) For a more natural look, apply to nose, cheeks and forehead, where the sun naturally hits your face.
3) Mix together with your favorite liquid foundation for just an added hint of bronze.
4) Add a dab to gloFace primer or gloHighlighter for an added touch of bronze.

This Spring, makeup mavens are searching for two things: Neutral hues of shadow to replenish their collection, and the color-rich brights that are all the rage. glominerals is sure to win the business of these women with the launch of the gloEye Maven Kit, an 8-shadow palette collection that contains the ideal shadow shades for Spring.
The bottom row of shades includes the staples women always need, shimmering neutral shades ranging from a pale ivory for highlighting to a deep mahogany brown for accent color. The top row has four hot Spring shades that you can use to ensure you are on-trend. Pink, peach, lilac and a sage green round out the collection perfectly.
The shadows in this collection can be used wet or dry, and the perfect-for-travel palette measures at a compact 4 3/4" wide by 2 1/2" high. The anti-oxidant rich formula actually works to repair the delicate eye area, as you wear the shadow!
Retail price of the gloEye Maven Kit is $39, and can be purchased at gloskincare.com.
Expert Tips and Tricks from gloMinerals:
1) The bottom row consists of 4 natural shades that work in tandem with any of the shades in the top row for limitless combinations.
2) Diamond is a perfect neutral that can be used as a base shade for any eye color in the eye maven kit.
3) French Pink or water lily combined with mahogany is an on-trend combination of pink and brown.
4) Use French Pink or water lily as the base shade and highlight the crease with mahogany.
5) Lilac and Orchid make a stunning combination that is universally flattering on any skin tone or eye color. Sweep the lilac shadow over the entire lid and use orchid on the crease for definition.

I’ve mentioned in the past that in the 90s I used chunky lip pencils–stand-alone–as my lip color. I loved the long-lasting matte-finish my pencils delivered, and the super-compact pencil format meant I could carry three times as many color options when I traveled! For those of you who normally shy away from pencils because they are too opaque, you’ll love the latest from gloMinerals. Launching in May, the gloRoyal lip crayon a gloss-pencil hybrid. Super-sheer, this crayon applies a wash of color to the lips that is reminiscent of gloss, but applies with a precision you can only achieve with a pencil.
Three colors will be introduced this Spring: Countess Coral, Imperial Pink and Empress Rose. I sampled Countess Coral, and must say it’s the perfect selection for a woman who wants to subtly incorporate this hot shade into their look.
Need another reason to give it a try? The formula contains antioxidants, and natural UV protection!
Retail price is $16. Check it out at www.gloskincare.com this May!
Expert Tips and Tricks from gloMinerals:
1) For extra long-lasting lip color, fill in the entire lip using gloPrecision lip pencil under gloRoyal lip crayon. It will accentuate the mouth and give off a subtle, beautiful shine.
Ok, before I even begin to scratch the surface of the latest collection by gloMinerals, I have to offer this little tidbit: every single product I sampled from the Spring 2009 collection was incredible. EVERY SINGLE ONE. Each time I thought I had finally found a favorite, I would try something else and change my mind. After using the entire collection, I simply can't even select only one to list as a must-have. Really… sample this new collection for yourself!
gloTint for lips and cheeks is the ideal lip stain for people who HATE lipstain. While it’s consistency is most certainly that of a stain, on the lips it looks much like a rosy shade of lipstick. For you corporate types who think lipstain looks too casual, I encourage you to try this brand.
TWO hours and one coffee after applying the tint for the first time, my lips still looked perfect. This highly-pigmented gel has incredible staying power, and the color is very natural. Even better, the tint is also suitable for cheeks, and imparts the most gorgeous healthy flush. It contains a blend of anti-oxidants including vitamins A, C, E and green tea to keep your lips looking their best, long after the makeup comes off!
Retail price is $14. Check it out at gloskincare.com.
Expert Tips and Tricks from gloMinerals:
1) Layer a gloss, like gloLiquid Lips, over gloTint for added lip dimension, or layer your favorite bronzer or shimmer blush over gloTint for an extra cheeky effect.
2) Apply to lips with our gloLip brush for added precision (ed note: You really should use a brush)
3) Have chapped lips, but still want color? Use gloTint and follow with the glominerals mint balm.

It has been quite some time since I've dipped into anything YSL beauty, but if there were ever a product to lure me back to this luxe line of cosmetics, it's surely Gloss Pur, a newly released product for Spring 2009.
YSL beauty has released 6 gorgeous new shades that deliver super shine. Sophistication is key: this gloss is completely devoid of girly sparkle (perfect for those with glitter phobias!). Each gloss is also infused with a delicious mango scent!
Gloss Pur is available for $29 at YSL Beauty online. Do check it out if you're in the mood for a bit of retail therapy, and a hint of spring color!

Rebecca Morrice Williams, the founder of BECCA, made a name for herself by accentuating the natural beauty of women everywhere. Her tip for achieving this type of look successfully? Use superior tools! This Spring, BECCA has introduced the Half Moon Brush as part of their Santa Rosa collection, and if you had to use one word to describe it… superior would certainly fit.
The Half Moon Brush is extremely thick, with the highest grade of goat hair hand-layered with super fine white synthetic fibers. BECCA's latest brush is for blending, buffing, highlighting and contouring. So many uses for one little brush!
I am amazed by the blending prowess of this brush. It's the last thing I use every day before heading out the door, to ensure my makeup is as natural looking as possible!
The BECCA Half Moon Brush retails for $45.

A friend and I were just discussing cheek color, and she mentioned that since entering her 30s, she has avoided powder blushes in favor of cream-based colors. Why? These dewy alternatives to a traditional powder blush impart a youthful appearance. Trust me, younger readers, someday this will be very important to you!
This new Spring launch by Trish McEvoy has become a favorite of Raging Rouge for exactly that reason. Trish McEvoy Liquid Face Color instantly gives the cheeks a healthy flush that looks natural and– yes–young! I'm also loving the click-pen applicator, which is a thinner container than many cheek colors and infinitely more portable. You could even tuck this into a pocket without anyone noticing!
Trish McEvoy Liquid Face Color was introduced as part of the Spring color collecting, and retails for $32 at department stores like Nordstrom

If Trish McEvoy were a Desperate Housewife, she would most certainly be Bree.
Organized to the extreme with her beautiful, chic planners… Trish McEvoy cosmetics are also perfectly on-trend. The shadows introduced by Trish McEvoy for Spring 2009 are a perfect example. Subtle, soft colors inspired by the look of watercolor painting, the shades Pebble, Stone and Iris are contrasted by Ebony as a definer.
Retail price is $16 per shade. I already know what you're wondering. What if these tumultuous economic times prevent me from buying the whole collection? Which shade is the must-have? My personal favorite stand-out shade is the pale dove-gray shade, Pebble (pictured in center). This cool neutral shade is an excellent departure from taupe, and looks beautiful with the bright clothing colors you'll see everywhere this Spring.

If you're a long-term reader of Raging Rouge, you'll know I've visited the topic of makeup expiration more than once. But still beauty lovers everywhere wonder just when that favorite gloss belongs in the circular file.
The problem isn't a lack of hygiene or cleanliness. Even if you decide to purge your gloss after the recommended nine months… how on earth would one track the age of every gloss in their makeup bag? I LOVE gloss, and own so many that to track the age of each would require a journal and an extraordinary amount of free time. Luckily, this type of investment is no longer necessary!
CARGO Cosmetics has recently introduced glosses in packaging that incorporates cutting-edge Timestrip® technology. Timestrip® is a tiny strip embedded in the cap of the gloss. It's so easy to use! When you've opened the gloss for the first time, just insert the Timestrip card into the slot in the cap. As your gloss ages, the Timestrip will turn red. When the entire strip is red, it's time to buy a new gloss.

CARGO Cosmetics encourages women everywhere to take a few tips from the pros when it comes to keeping their cosmetics fresh:
Store your cosmetics in a safe place with a consistent temperature. Exposure to extreme hot or cold can compromise your products’ safety and efficacy.
Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before putting your fingers into a product.
Clean or replace your brushes and applicators regularly.
Use a cotton swab when applying make-up to a blemish.
Put your contact lenses in before you apply your make-up. Not only is it easier to see what you are doing, but also you will keep your lenses clean and avoid infection.
Prevent infections from returning. Stop using eye make-up if you have an eye infection and lip products if you have a cold sore.
When in doubt, do a smell test. Squeeze out a dab of the product and take a sniff. If it doesn’t smell right to you, toss it.
