I buy and rebuy these fabulous knotted ponlytailers by Scunci. They are such a simple, sleek way to create a ponytail, and this little bitty set from Scunci offers 6 hair ties in varying colors and prints to complement your style.
The 80s girl in me can’t help but smile at the fact that Scunci is still big when it comes to hair accessories. I owned a million “Scuncis” back in my teens, when the brand was synonymous with a large, colorful, scrunched up elastic fabric to tie back a ponytail. My favorite color Scunci, circa 1988? Red (rouge), or course!
Scunci products can be found in Walmart, Duane Reade, and CVS stores. Price varies.

When a brand announces they’ll be reformulating a favorite product of mine, I generally panic. Not where Estee Lauder is concerned, however! When I heard Estee planned to update their line of Double Wear Stay In Place Eye Pencils, I was so excited! They rank high on my list of the Best Estee Lauder Products, and I knew the brand would only make them better.
The color? Rich and intense. The staying power is what makes these a must-own. After applying these pencils I smudge them with a smudge brush, and give the color time to set. Once in place, these pencils deliver incredible, smudge-proof, long lasting wear. Yes, they are literally “stay in place” eye pencils!
So what has changed with the New Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Eye Pencil? The color is even more intense than the Double Wear Eye Pencils of yesteryear. To me the color looks more glossy than the finish of the previous pencils. Comparing the new Onyx vs. the old Onyx, the look now has a more “wet” appearance vs. the smokier Onyx the old formula delivered. The smudge-tip is now an angled foam that’s more dense than the sponge tip used previously.
Retail price is $23 per pencil. If you’re looking for more product recommendations, be sure to visit my Best Estee Lauder Products guide.

Light and airy, but as comfortable as your coziest cashmere sweater. That’s the kind of cozy comfort the MAC Lightness Of Being color collection offers, but in makeup form! The fine details, like knit patterns engraved atop the mineralize product, only serve to reel me in further.

Makeup Wars: Best Of 2014 Series
It’s almost the new year! This is always time for reflection and assessment. What did you do right in 2014? What did you do wrong? We all have some personal winners and losers, and the same goes for the world of makeup.
The Makeup Wars team has decided to fill these final days of 2014 with some of the makeup “winners” of 2014. Today’s topic? The best foundation, CC, or BB Cream from 2014.
My Pick: Top Foundation 2014 Edition
For me, the answer was easy: Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup. The answers from the rest of the MW team can be found at the end of this post, so be sure to scroll down to read them!
I was introduced to this new Estee Lauder formula toward the end of summer 2014, and have been using it regularly ever since! Why is it so special? The name says it all! Youth. Infusing. This formula instantly imparts a healthy glow that really makes the wearer look younger, and now that I’m of a **cough, cough** certain age, this fact alone was enough to win my heart! But there’s more! Not only does Estee Lauder Perfectionist Youth Infusing Makeup deliver that special youthful glow, it also contains an SPF25, brightening ingredients, and no fragrance… This beauty blogger has become a loyal fan!
Retail price is $45. It’s worth every penny, but the budget-conscious among you should wait until a great Estee Lauder GWP is available to grab a bottle. Love what you see? I’ve pulled together a list of the Best Estee Lauder Products for you to peruse!

New Year’s Eve is coming up fast and furious! For those of you who are (like me) nail art challenged, a great way to get a festive look for the biggest party day of the year is to use a top coat with a Splatter Paint effect over your manicure, like these Sephora Formula X shades. These confetti-inspired topcoats are called “Xplosives”, and depending on what colors you are looking for, the retail price ranges from $6 (some are on sale) to $12.50.
Turbulent combines turquoise and black confetti glitter. I personally love the way this shade stands out atop a white manicure.
Bionic is a great combination of black and a citusy green/yellow. When it comes to a Splatter Paint nail look, these colors are a great pick!
Meteoric is no longer online! Check your local retailer for this black/white combo. I am wild about it over a deep pink or red.
Wham is a great way to get into the snowy spirit of the season. This pure white confetti is the perfect topper for just about any shade, but my personal favorite is to pair it with a pale baby-blue.
