brenda novak white heat‘Tis the season for the beach read!  Just in time to entertain sun-bathers everywhere, Brenda Novak’s latest:  White Heat, will be launching today!  Personally, I’m really hoping to have the opportunity to curl up with this romantic suspense novel.  This book is the first of a three-part book series:  White Heat, Body Heat and Killer Heat.  Interesting fact:  Brenda’s career was launched when she discovered her daycare provider was drugging her children to induce sleep.  Horrific!  Since ditching the drug-pushing nanny and staying home, Brenda has written about FORTY novels.  She’s my idol!

So why is a beauty blogger writing about a novel?  It just so happens that Three Custom Color Specialists will be launching a gloss in honor of White Heat today!

three custom color specialists, white heat lip gloss

This sizzling pink shade will retail for $21.50, and will be available for purchase on ThreeCustom.com starting TODAY to coincide with the release of Brenda Novak’s new novel. As a special gift with purchase, the first 50 online customers to purchase the gloss will receive a free autographed copy of “White Heat.”

clean anti-bacterial moisturizing hand cream, reviews, opinions, beauty, makeup, skin, moisture, hand care, hand sanitizer, non-drying hand sanitizerWhat a RELIEF!  As the Mom of two young children, I’ve had to ignore my dry hands and continually apply harsh hand sanitizers to keep my household in good health.  The good news?  Hand sanitizers work!  My family somehow coasted through the Winter almost illness free.  The bad news?  Hand saniziters positively wreak havoc on the hands.

There is another solution!  Fusion Brands, Inc.–the creators of CLEAN–have launched CLEAN Anti-Bacterial Moisturizing Hand Cream!  Similar to your typical hand sanitizer, this product eliminates 99.9% of germs.  But it’s so SO much better than just that!  Firstly, this lightweight scent-free lotion moisturizes dry, battered hands effectively.  Secondly–providing you don’t wash it off–CLEAN’s latest hand cream can protect you from germs for up for four hours after application!

I’ve never used anything quite like it, and when I received a sample, I immiediately assumed this product would be pricey!  But I was wrong!  A 1 fl. oz. tube retails for only $10!  It’s the perfect purse-companion, all year long!

CLEAN Antibacterial Moisturizing Hand Cream does not contain alcohol, triclosan, sulfates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, artificial colors/dyes, animal ingredients and other harsh chemicals. CLEAN does not test on animals.

alice and olivia swatches, nail lacquer swatches, mac cosmetics swatches, mac alice and olivia, product reviews, product swatches, beauty blog, summer 2010

As a child, one of my very favorite thing to do was color.  While creating for hours on end with my jumbo box of crayons, I would periodically attempt to determine once and for all–what color is most beautiful?  After careful and lengthy deliberation, I always narrowed down the pack to two shades:  blue-green and green-blue.  Ultimately, blue-gree, would always win the beauty contest by a nose.

So when I first set eyes on MAC Cosmetics Summer 2010 collaberation with Alice + Olivia, “Morning After” Nail Lacquer (the gorgeous turquoise shade pictured at center) was the very first product that caught my eye.  It is the exact shade of that perfect, most-beautiful blue-green shade I always admired as a child!

The Alice + Olivia makeup collection contains three different shades of long-wearing nail lacquer, each in a different finish.  As always, the MAC formula is free of DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde.  I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again… MAC Nail Lacquer wears so well!  I’ve had a pedicure last for a month, chip-free!

Swatch above:  So Rich, So Pretty, a bright purple shade with a frost finish.

alice and olivia nail lacquer, military swatches and reviews, mac cosmetics, summer 2010

Swatch above:  Military, a gritty asphalt shade with a matte finish.

I suppose So Rich, So Pretty is the most appropriate shade selection for a 30-something Mom, but I love the whole collection–age appropriate or not!

Retail price is $12 per bottle.

smashbox fall 2010, smashbox masquerade

Among the many Fall 2010 makeup collections I am dying to get my mitts on is the latest from Smashbox!  Allow me to introduce the Masquerade collection! Masquerade launches in August of 2010, and can be purchased at Sephora.com, Smashbox.com or Nordstrom.com.  I’m dying over the bold shades in the eye shadow palette, punctuated by pale shades of ivory, pink and white.  Based on my positive experience with Fusion Soft Lights, I’m guessing the Baked Fusion Soft Lights Palette in Illusion will be a winner, as well.  What’s on your list?

EYE SHADOW PALETTE in MASQUERADE ($35)
(matte soft peach, shimmering black plum, matte taupe, metallic khaki, shimmering gold, bronze, metallic cabernet, shimmering navy, matte bone)
From subtle to ultra dramatic, the shades in this enticing palette disguise your eyes with a veil of magnetic color. Organized in complementary trios, the shades create coordinated looks for maximum intrigue.

BAKED FUSION SOFT LIGHTS PALETTE in ILLUSION ($32)
(champagne, soft gold, rosegold)
Create the illusion of a lit-from-within glow with this palette of shimmering shades, designed to illuminate cheeks, nose, forehead and décolleté. For the perfect cheek, pair with CREAMY CHEEK COLOR & BRUSH.

CREAMY CHEEK COLOR & BRUSH in INTRIGUE ($29)
(warm pink)
Formulated with antioxidant Vitamin E, this luxurious creamy cheek color will give cheeks a “just blushed” look—the perfect innocent disguise. Glide the creamy formula over the apples of cheeks, then blend with the brush for a flawless pop of color.

LIQUID LINER & LASH OVERLAY in TEAL & BRONZE ($19)
Cloak eyes in an air of mystery with this innovative two-in-one formula for lash line and lashes. Just line the eyes and then sweep the specially designed rod over a coat of mascara to “tip” the ends of lashes for a subtle yet intriguing look.

LIP ENHANCING GLOSS in REVEAL and DISGUISE ($19)
(golden nude, golden pink)
What’s behind that provocative pout? This ultra-moisturizing formula saturates lips with alluring color and shine. Vitamin E provides antioxidant protection and moisturization, while Sunflower seed oil nourishes lips.

O-GLOSS NOIR ($22) EXCLUSIVE TO SEPHORA
This disguise transforms before your very eyes—the sultry lip formula glides on black, then evolves into a custom bold berry hue tailored to your specific skin tone. Formulated with Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract and Goji Berry Extract to boost microcirculation as well as moisturizing Avocado Oil antioxidant Vitamin C and Pomegranate Seed Oil, O-Gloss Noir interacts with your personal skin chemistry to create a shade that’s unique to you.
