‘Tis the season for the beach read! Just in time to entertain sun-bathers everywhere, Brenda Novak’s latest: White Heat, will be launching today! Personally, I’m really hoping to have the opportunity to curl up with this romantic suspense novel. This book is the first of a three-part book series: White Heat, Body Heat and Killer Heat. Interesting fact: Brenda’s career was launched when she discovered her daycare provider was drugging her children to induce sleep. Horrific! Since ditching the drug-pushing nanny and staying home, Brenda has written about FORTY novels. She’s my idol!
So why is a beauty blogger writing about a novel? It just so happens that Three Custom Color Specialists will be launching a gloss in honor of White Heat today!

This sizzling pink shade will retail for $21.50, and will be available for purchase on ThreeCustom.com starting TODAY to coincide with the release of Brenda Novak’s new novel. As a special gift with purchase, the first 50 online customers to purchase the gloss will receive a free autographed copy of “White Heat.”

To be named “America’s #1 Lip Gloss” is quite an accomplishment. Here’s a statistic that will just blow your mind: Avon sells the equivalent of EIGHT Glazewear Lip Glosses each minute! Wow… that’s a lot of gloss, America! Upon having the opportunity to sample the glosses in this collection, I’m beginning to understand why the ladies here in the USA are so smitten. Firstly, the pricetag is a super-reasonable $6. Secondly, there are three finishes to select from: intense (rich lipstick-like color), Sparkle (high gloss with a shimmer effect) and Shine (super shiny, and super sheer). Thirdly, there are a total of 16 shades in the collection, ranging from a sexy deep red to a perfectly clear top coat! With all of that diversity and a budget-friendly price, it’s easy for me to understand why American women are hooked!
Want a peek at the collection? I knew you would!

Beauty addicts everywhere know that Bobbi Brown lipcolor is incredible. I–for one–am a HUGE fan of the Bobbi Brown Shimmering Gloss Palette. Firstly, the streamlined, slender black palette satisfies my eternal desire for makeup selection and portability. Complete with a huge mirror for on the go application and a high-quality lip brush, the Shimmering Gloss Palette is truly a one-stop-shop!
Beyond that however, the shade selection in this limited-edition palette is just perfect for summer. The six shades included in the Bobbi Brown Shimmering Gloss Palette are neutral, yet not naked. Coupled with a buttery smooth feel, these go-with-anything glosses like these are a Summer must-have.

The Bobbi Brown Shimmering Gloss Palette retails for $40.

Estee Lauder has launched New Pure Color Gloss in June 2010! The collection of glosses contains three different finishes, and 34 shades to select from!
While applying this product for photographing swatches, the first thing to catch my notice was the super-soft, ultra-cushy sponge-tip applicator wand. Seriously, the tip of this applicator feels like a soft fluffy pillow! Second, I noticed how smooth application is. Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Gloss feels so moisturizing on the lips, and never sticky or tacky. It’s positively addicting, and makes a great addition to your beach tote, to help soothe dry, sun-fried lips.
There are 34 different shades to select from, in three different finishes. Six shades were designed by Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux himself!
Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Gloss shine finish is available in these shades: Tempting Tearose, Shocking Pink, Rose Emotion, Brazen Berry, Nude Rose, Wet Cranberry and Plum Desire. One of the samples I received is the gorgeously shiny Plum Desire (swatch below). It’s my favorite of the bunch, because it works for both Summer and Early Fall. It also happens to be one of the shades created by uber-skilled Tom Pecheux himself. No surprise!

Pure Color Gloss has a whopping 19 shimmer shades to select from: Electric Ginger, Wired Copper, Wild Sugarcane, Pink Innocence, Rock Candy, Pink Kiss, Extravagant Pink, Fuchsia Fantasy, Praline Paradise, Impulsive Coral, Passion Fruit, Peach Sizzle, Garnet Desire, Cherry Fever, Magnificent Mauve, Star Pink, Mod Poppy, Orchid Passion and Plum Divine.

Electric Ginger (swatch above) is almost totally sheer, with just a hint of warm golden shimmer.
And finally, the collection includes 4 Sparkle Shades: Opulent Opal, Frivolous Pink, Blazing Coral and Raspberry Pop.

Opulent Opal (swatch above) is super-shiny, and perfect to use as a top coat for lipstick!
From Tom Pecheux’s personal stash, we have six shades of Pure Color Gloss: The Custom Color Collection by Tom Pecheux. Four of the shades are limited edition, and two are permanent (Plum Desire–mentioned above–is permanent)

In my pre-teens, I loved wild, punk style. I wore blue lipstick, painted striped on my lids, and wore day-glo neon from head to toe daily.
Alice + Olivia glosses are whimsical, bright and crazy fun! I would have died over this collection in edgier days. These shades are not intended for soccer-Mom types! They’re for young girls pushing the envelope of style. I hope they snag this collection, enjoy it, and take advantage of these experimental years! I know from experience that they will look back on their outrageousness fondly.

Swatches from left to right: Sparklicious (a buttercream frosting, super-sparkling shade), If it’s pink… (a neon pink with shimmer), and I.Want.Candy (yes… it’s YELLOW with shimmer!)

Just when I think I’ve sampled everything, in-the-know beauty insiders pass along a new goody for me to share with Raging Rouge readers!
The team at Cosmetique.com recently introduced me to the brand Jean-Michelle. I had the chance to sample two of their sublime, buttery gloss shades and one silky eyeshadow quad.
Pictured at left are Jean-Michelle Lip Couleur Liquide Glosses. Immediately upon application, I couldn’t help but wonder if this gloss was officially the least sticky gloss I have ever worn! The formula is so smooth and emollient, it simply glides on the lips and feels almost like a balm. Another huge pro? The Jean-Michelle Lip Couleur Liquide Glosses deliver bright, frosty, buildable color perfect for Summer 2010.
Pragmatism aside… the product and super-luxe minimalist bottle appeal to sophisticated women, but the ripe strawberry scent appeals to the fun-loving little girl in us all! Seriously, what a delightful surprise it was to smell that delicious scent!

Swatch above: Bordeaux. This pale frosty shade of taupe calls attention to a tan like none other, and goes with EVERYTHING.
Swatch above: Rose Jardin. This deep raspberry shade is a must for Summer 2010.
Retail price is $15 per gloss at Cosmetique.com

I recently had the fun opportunity to sample the latest by Make Up For Ever. The recently launched Aqua Cream is a collection of rich, creamy, high-pigment formulas for use on eyes, cheeks or lips. Appropriately, Raging Rouge was sent a pot of #8, the rich shade of red pictured in this post.
First, I tested Aqua Cream on my lips. #8 imparts a matte January Jones (ala Mad Men) type of look, but with a modern metallic edge. Think 2010 style with a hat tip to the 1950s. It’s an extremely glam shade of red. Aqua Cream also passes what I refer to as the “Seattle coffee test”. In fact, the swatch shown in this post was taken AFTER I drank a large cup of morning java. The color is still flawless!
Considering the bright shade, I was a bit hesitant to test this product on my cheeks. But providing that you show restraint–and apply the product minimally to your skin–it delivers a healthy, rosy glow. Remember… do not apply this product liberally, thinking you can wipe it off. Apply a little at a time, building up the color until you achieve the desired result.
Available in 21 shades for eyes and cheeks, I am dying to sample more shades from this lineup. After reviewing swatches of the full collection, numbered 1-18 and 20-22, my curiosity is piqued… what happened to mysterious shade #19?
Retail price is $22 per jar.

As you have likely gathered from my recent posts, Raging Rouge has officially given the Too Faced Summer 2010 Collection–A Girl’s Best Friend–two thumbs up. Among the winning cosmetics released for Summer are these super-shiny, super-opaque Too Faced Glamour Glosses.
Glamour Gloss is ideal for anyone in search of some sting-free plumping action. I have very sensitive skin, and some lip plumpers can irritate the skin around my lips, leaving it looking raw and red (not exactly attractive). I experience no negative side-effects with Glamour Gloss! After application, the gloss has a cooling feeling and a crisp peppermint scent! I’m a fan of the rich color this gloss imparts. It’s the perfect choice for anyone who generally prefers lipstick to gloss.

Swatches above: Strip Tease (left) and Pillow Talk (right)
Strip Tease: This deep shade of pink has quickly become a favorite. Something about it is just so youthful and fresh!
Pillow Talk: This shade is a delightfully opaque, shiny naked that works perfectly with a smoky eye!
Retail price is $19 per gloss. Twelve different shades are available. Retailers include Toofaced.com and Sephora.com
.

Do NOT twist that gloss top!
Hourglass Cosmetics Prodigy lip gloss is different in so many ways, but the key difference is its packaging!
The wide, flat tube is practically invisible when tucked into the back pocket of your favorite denim. Pull the cap straight off to apply. I personally prefer to apply this gloss with a lip brush. You can add layer upon layer of color, without it ever feeling too thick or sticky. It’s a miracle gloss!
The shade Surreal (swatch below) has gotten much use since I acquired it! It’s seashell-like irridescence is beautiful for Spring, and this neutral shade goes with everything!
The silky smooth gloss is infused with Vitamin E to moisturize. The formulat is paraben, sulfate, phthalate and fragrance free!
Retail price is $26. Click HERE to buy it from Sephora.com
