Poppy King: The Lipstick Queen, Spring 2008 Tips and Tricks

I live for Lipstick Queen products.  I currently have in my possession 6 different lippies by Lipstick Queen, and I adore each and every one of them.  Besides being one of the best lipsticks I have ever had the pleasure to wear... I think my infatuation with this brand might have something to do with its creator:  Poppy King.  She's a sassy, savvy business woman who got her start in the cosmetic industry at the age of eighteen by launching her own company in Australia.  Today, she's the founder of a wildly successful company in the US.  Who wouldn't be interested to hear more about that success story?  Well, now we can all satisfy our curiosity with Poppy's recently released book: "Lessons of a Lipstick Queen".

Though she's terribly busy, Poppy was nice enough to provide Raging Rouge beauty addicts with some lipstick application tips and tricks for the Spring.  Enjoy!   

Q:  What's the best method for prepping lips, prior to lipstick application?

A:  Exfoliate gently with a spare toothbrush to remove any dead skin and then put a little lip balm on.

Q:  What are some tricks for lengthening lipstick wear?

A:  Think of it like nail polish...apply one coat...blot. Let sink in and then apply another light coat.

Q:  How can consumers best keep lips soft, and safe from the elements?

A:  Keep well hydrated by drinking plenty of water and then use a chapstick or lip balm with sunscreen. Whatever you do don’t lick your lips! That dries them out.

Q:  What Lipstick Queen has been historically most popular?

A:  I would say Marilyn Monroe. Men, women and children adored her and her super glam but approachable sensibility.

Q:  What Lipstick Queen shades do you recommend for Spring?

A:  Coral Sinner, Saint Coral and Saint Pink.  Coral is very chic this Spring and Coral Sinner is the chicest! Saint Pink is gorgeous, light and pretty. Perfect for Spring.

Q:  Can we expect any new Summer products from Lipstick Queen?

A:  YES!! Shine Hard Core Gloss!! This is the biggest, glossiest gloss ever. Think 1970’s disco chic.

Hi,
I just got Opal Saint Shine last week, it's an amazing product. I normally don't' wear gloss but I figured if its got Lipstick Queen on the lid it must be good, and it is!
I got the book too, "Lessons of A Lipstick Queen". I went into Barnes & Noble to grab a Starbucks and it was sitting right in front of me. I've just started it and it's def a great read!

I love the nailpolish analogy she made. I never thought of having to let it sink in.
One more side note on Shine, this product stays on! I went the whole day, even ate and didn't need to re-apply it!~
