Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Cream Review

Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Cream Review

Algenist Genius Anti-Aging Cream Review

Press SampleI’ve been gun-shy about testing skincare products lately.  My poor skin has had enough, and is allergic to so many things these days!  I’m always happy to test-drive products by my new favorite–Algenist–as I’ve never had anything but a great experience with this brand.

New on the Algenist scene is their Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Cream.  Similar to their other anti-aging product, Genius contains alguronic acid, an antiaging incredient derived from microalgae, combined with their new skin-nourishing microalgae oil. [Read more…]

NARS Instant Line Pore Perfector

Press SampleIt is a sad state of affairs, but now that I am in my 40s, I am certainly happy to have products like the new NARS Instant Line Pore Perfector at my disposal.  Unlike some pore-minimizing products that come in the form of a thick lotion, the clear crayon format of this new NARS product allows precise application only exactly where needed.  It literally couldn’t be easier to use, simply run the slender tip along the lines you are trying to hide, allow the product to set, and then apply your makeup as usual!

Estee Lauder Resilience Lift

estee lauder resilience lift eye creme

It’s a personal preference, but I like an anti-aging eye cream that causes a slight tingling sensation. In my mind, this feeling means the product is working, removing damaged cells to make way for the new!  Estee Lauder’s Resilience Lift Eye Creme does just that, a mind-comforting “it’s working” tingle, but with no irritation. Trust me, I have super-sensitive skin and this product is gentle!

Another reason to love Lauder’s new lineup?  The “lifting” action is instantaneous!  While wearing it during the day, I feel my skin looks more youthful and radiant than ever!  This result has me positively hooked.

StriVectin-SD for Sensitive Skin!

StriVectin SD for Sensitive SkinGreat news!  StriVectin is now available in a new formula for Sensitive Skin!  After all, we sensitive skinned consumers are aging too, right?

Here’s a fact that I recently learned:  it’s estimated that 50% of women have some sort of skin sensitivity issue.  That’s a lot of sensitive skin!  I am among those unfortunate ladies.

The people at StriVectin removed all fragrances, oils and other irritants from this updated version.  Then, they actually performed clinical trials of this new formula on sensitive skin, and it was determined that not only is the new formula compatible with sensitive skin, but helps to make skin less sensitive over time!

The key ingredients in the covetable anti-aging product at NIA-114 and Peptide Actives.  The NIA-114 ingredient is a patented Niacin concoction that actually helps the skin cells to rebuild.  Peptide Actives help promote collagen production, reducing the appearance of fine lines.

Retail price for a 2.0 oz tube is $79.

Online retailers of the product include Macys.com, Nordstrom.com, Sephora.com and Beauty.com.

KenzoKi Nightshift Cream Review

KenzoKi Nightshade Cream Review

KenzoKi Nightshift Cream works in a time-release fashion.  Apply it before bedtime, and as you sleep it moisturizes the skin while releasing Himalayan Raspberry Extract to sooth the skin and make it appear more youthful.  Good for both normal and combination skin-types, this ginger cream left my skin looking noticeably more radiant after use.

Note:  save your precious product!  Nightshift Cream should be stored in the fridge to keep the ingredients as potent as possible.

A 1.7 oz container retails for $60 at KenzoUSA.com.

gloMoist Hydration Mist Reviews: A Seaonless Must Have!

glomoist hydration mist reviews, glomoist reviews, glomoist spray, glominerals reviews, glo skin care, summer must haves, Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, summer must have beauty products, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge,

Ok… ok…  This is a re-post.  Sue me for wanting a day off!  Even though the Summer season is over, I still think this hydration mist by glominerals is a must-have.  It keeps skin refreshed and moist, and that forced-air heat can be vicious!  So, just in case you’ve forgotten about this product review, consider this a little reminder!

Had you mentioned “Evian” to me in the 80s, it would not have conjured up images of bottled drinking water. My mother always stocked bottles of Evian mist to replenish facial moisture throughout the day.

I recently snagged a similar product, called gloMoist Hydration Mist.  Ideal to keep at the office for a refresher, its 2 oz. size is also compact enough for application at 30,000 feet. Simply spray a fine mist of water over your face to rehydrate. You’ll be simultaneously giving your skin a healthy dose of antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients.

Retail price $17.50.

Physical Sunscreens vs. Chemical Sunscreens: The Hot Debate, A Raging Rouge Rewind

What is physical sunscreen?  What is chemical sunscreen?  Why should I care?  It’s Raging Rouge rewind time!  I originally wrote about this topic two years ago.  In 2010, the heated debate over the effectiveness and safety of chemical sunscreen rages on.  Confused?  Keep reading!

In recent years, chemical sunscreens have come under fire.  Some are claiming the chemicals in the formula break down more quickly than originally estimated, leaving your skin unprotected much sooner than you would think.  Therefore, a chemical sunscreen with an SPF 30 is not the same as a physical sunscreen with an SPF 30.  Others claim that the active ingredients in chemical sunscreens (like Oxybenzone and PABA) not only irritate skin, but can cause allergic reactions and generate free radicals that hasten skin aging!

So what’s the difference between physical and chemical sunscreens? A physical sunscreen contains active ingredients like Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, which actually reflect UVA and UVB rays off of the surface of the skin. Incredibly effective, physical sunblocks are the preferred choice of those who spend an entire day in the sun. They also tend to not blend into the skin as easily as a chemical sunscreen, which is why lifeguards are often seen sporting a nose slathered in white cream.  A chemical sunscreen contains active ingredients that absorb into the skin, and absorb damaging UVA and UVB rays, rendering them harmless.  The catch with chemical sunscreen is that you must apply it approximately 1/2 hour prior to exposure, or you are unprotected.

So… what’s your take on the subject?  What kind of sunscreen do you use, and why?  Let’s chat about it in the comments!

Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 Review

exuviance performance peel ap25 reviewI wrote eons ago about a facial peel by Exuviance that helped rid me of acne scarring and bumpiness along my jawline.  Well, recently Exuviance launched something even more hard-core!  The Exuviance Performance Peel AP25 contains a 25% level of active peeling ingredients (alpha hydroxy acids, polyhydroxy acids, glycolic acid, mandelic acid and gluconolactone).  The gang’s all here!

In this blogger’s humble opinion, Exuviance skin care products are some of the best available when it comes to dealing with skin woes.  God only knows I sampled dozens of different products before, only to be utterly disappointed.

Using this at-home peel is super simple.  After testing a small area of skin–to ensure you won’t be irritated–just follow these instructions:  First, remove makeup.  Then, wipe an Activator Pad over your entire face.  Wait for 10 minutes (unless you experience discomfort) and then wipe a neutralizer pad over your entire face.  It’s that simple!  Each pad is individually packaged, making them extremely totable for travel, or even if you want to do the treatment at the gym!

12 peels (a 6 week supply) retails for $60.  It’s apparently the highest concentration of these ingredients available outside of a doctor’s office!
