MAC Cosmetics has launched so many new collections lately, and one I’ve recently played with is the MAC Julia Petit Collection!
I love MAC Eyeshadow x 2 palettes, and this Morganite duo from the MAC Julia Petit makeup collection is no exception! Two warm shades–one a sparkling champagne, the other a deep chocolate–can be used to create an incredible eye look with some creative blending!
Sold out online. Retail is $22. Other colors include Sagu and Moving Sand (both are still available). Click through the jump for photos of MAC Julia Petit Boca Lipstick, and MAC Julia Petit Linda Blush! [Read more…]
It seems like lifetimes ago, but I was once a road-warrior. Trust me, those of us flying regularly deserve to use the term “warrior”.
I rose in the early AM on Monday to hop a jet, sometimes having to wake as early as 3 am. By the time I landed, it already felt like I had worked a full day, but no. There was at a minimum a 9 hour workday facing me before I got to check into my hotel room. Sometimes I was up a full 24 hours before I had the opportunity to sleep.
Among the many challenges of travel is missing the creature comforts of home. This long-time makeup lover had to abandon a vast selection in favor of a succinct collection that would suit my daily needs and fit easily in my carry-on. Each week I had only two lip colors to choose from, two or three eye pencils, and a tiny neutral shadow compact (or no shadow at all).
The founders of Stowaway Cosmetics are familiar with this conundrum. It doesn’t only affect frequent travelers, but women who exercise at a gym, need to reapply at work, or heck, anyone who wants to tote an assortment of cosmetics with her day-to-day. The brand is working to reduce makeup bulk by offering a line of petite products with luxe formulas.
There’s no brand with a more fairytale beginning than Borghese. Founded by a stylish Italian Princess, this brand has been around for around 60 years! The brand recently launched some modern paletettes with a packaging facelift, and let me tell you it’s time to revisit this regal, royal brand. I was simply wowed by the Eclissare shadow palettes Borghese passed along for me to test. The Borghese formula feels like silk during application, and applies a high-pigment even color. The packaging is a classic, simple black quilted design that’s easy on the eyes.
The magical MAC Cinderella collection just launched, so I wanted to be sure to get items from this beautiful collection in front of your eyes asap!
My #1 pick from the press samples I received is this MAC Studio Eye Gloss. “Lightly Tauped” looks like a sheer neutral, but this gorgeous eye color is laced with deep pink shimmer that even a fairy godmother would approve of. Retail price is $23.
A Cinderella collection wouldn’t be complete without glitter! Reflects Pearl is a shimmery, frosty white that adds a little something special to any makeup look. Don’t forget, if you plan to use glitter on the eyes you’ll need to wear something a bit tacky as a base to hold it into place. Pretty It Up is a medium brown pigment with a hint of bronze. A wonderful way to spice up a neutral eye. Retail price is $23 for glitter and $24 for pigment.
Nothing says “princess” quite like pink, this long-wearing lip pencil will hold until midnight! This lip pencil isn’t a part of the Cinderella collection, but I definitely wanted to ensure there was a lip color selection here for you to be the belle of the ball! Retail price is $16.

NARS Liguria Lipstick, Spring 2015
If you still think “sand” when someone says “neutral”, you’ve got it all wrong. Modern neutrals like NARS Liguria Lipstick lean golden/umber, for a new twist on a classic neutral lip.
Retail price is $27.
NARS Reckless Blush, Spring 2015
NARS Reckless Blush is really more of a highlighter. If you’re in love with luminosity, it’s a must. Gently pat it atop the cheekbones with a stipple brush to add a highlight, or pair it with a bronzer to add definition. Add a layer of Reckless over any blush to amp up the glow factor.
Retail price is $30.
NARS St. Paul De Vince Duo Eyeshadow, Spring 2015

NARS Porto Venere Eye Paint, Spring 2015

I am finally, FINALLY feeling in a pink mood again readers! The timing is perfect, as elements of pink are cropping up everywhere, most especially in eye makeup! One of my latest favorite products is this new launch from Memebox. Memebox has collaborated with Stephanie Villa (aka SoothingSista) and the result is this gorgeous #EyeLove SF Eye Shadow Palette consisting of neutral shades of shadow that lean pink. The rosy neutrals in this palette are so gorgeously youthful you simply need to buy one (and the fact the retail is only $17 doesn’t hurt either).
Every Spring, I’m always in the mood to add a bit more color to my eye makeup routine. I’m also fond of pointing my readers in the direction of superior product, so it’s nice that the palette I’m featuring in today’s post perfectly covers both bases! Above is the Laura Mercier Watercolour Mist Eye & Cheek Palette, from the brand’s Watercolour Clouds collection for 2015.
As you may have already gathered simply by window shopping, this year’s colors are more subdued and romantic then last year’s brights. Dare I use the word “pastel”? This lovely palette is similar to a watercolor paint palette, with six Sateen Eye Colours that deliver a wash of color to the eyes. The palette includes a soft cornflower blue (Mist), a pale neutral (Wheat), a soft medium green (Storm), a violet/pink (Wind), gray (Purple Rain), and charcoal (Cloud). The two included cheek colors are a pale pink (Sunset) and medium terracotta (Earth).
As always, the Laura Mercier shadow and blush formulas are as soft as silk, and apply smoothly and evenly.
