Spring 2010, MAC Colour 4 Forecast, MAC Spring Colour Forecast 4, Swatches, Photos, Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Beauty Blog, Product Reviews

Spring 2010, MAC Colour 4 Forecast, MAC Spring Colour Forecast 4, Swatches, Photos, Reviews, eyeshadow x4, springshine, gold dust lipglass swatches, colour 4 blush ombre, Makeup Reviews, Beauty Blog, Product Reviews

Since I boldly proclaimed MAC Spring Colour Forecast 4 as my favorite of the bunch… I figured it made sense for me to begin my makeup reviews here!  The top image is from MAC, of the entire collection.  The photo below it is mine, of the products that I sampled.  I’ll state it plainly… I love each and every one of these four products, and recommend them ALL highly!

The Eyeshadow x4 compact contains the following (starting from top left):  Manila Paper (pale frosted white gold), Flip (bronze gold), Aztec Brick (frosted true copper) and Creole Beauty (frosted dark golden brown).  My favorite way to apply these shadows is as follows:  1)  Apply Manila Paper on lids, 2)  Apply Flip from crease up to browbone, 3)  Apply Aztec Brick in crease and 4)  Use Creole Beauty as an accent (upper and lower lashline).  This shadow quad has quickly become my “go-to” Spring makeup pick for its versatility (skip the darker shades for a more casual look, or use them for more drama).  I also LOVE the magnetic closure on the palette!

The latest limited-edition introduction by MAC is a smash hit.  The gradient design of Blush Ombre in Springshine makes the product so versatile!  Swirl it to use as a bronzer, or just for a touch of tan on the cheeks.  Or, use the darker section for contouring, and the paler section for highlighting!  Either way, you end up with a sun-kissed look that is most welcome!

Retail price is $25 for Springshine Blush Ombre, and $36 for Eye Shadow x4 Colour 4.

urban decay eye shadow swatches, urban decay stardust swatches, urban decay stardust makeup reviews, beauty blog, product review, makeup blog, cosmetics review

More, more, more Urban Decay eye shadow, please!  Consumers are so crazed with Urban Decay eye shadow (proven by how quickly “Book of Shadows” palettes fly off of shelves), the brand recently launched an entire new line to keep up with demand!

How is it different?  These colors are all super-shimmery, as if the brilliant power of the stars themselves was captured to formulate them.

Appropriately named “Stardust”, this collection of eye shadow is extremely pigment-rich.  I was impressed with how opaque the shadow was, even without a primer underneath!  Check out the swatch below!  On the left, each shadow was applied with no primer.  On the right, Stardust shadow was applied over Urban Decay’s Primer Potion in “Sin”.  You’ll note that the primer intensifies the color, but the color was really ALREADY INTENSE!  Impressive.

While I’m throwing around star metaphors, I need to note the packaging is equally brilliant.  Just squeeze the sides of the pan, and the lid pops right open!  No more wedging a nail under the lid, and chipping your manicure to open your eyeshadow!urban decay reviews, urban decay stardust swatches, urban decay eyeshadow swatches, urban decay spring 2010, makeup reviews, beauty news, product reviews, cosmetics blog

Each Spring in recent history has been defined by one makeup color.  Spring 2009 was a sizzling shade of coral.  Spring 2008 was all about pink.  Spring 2010 is the year of blue.

Don’t fret… the blue eye makeup introduced for 2010 isn’t the sky-blue washed out shade of yesteryear.  Case in point:  one of the new releases from Urban Decay cosmetics.

Urban Decay’s famously smudgeable eye pencil is now available in this metallic shade of navy, mixed with just enough true-blue to be electrifying.

Retail price is $17.

The 80s are back, baby… and this glossy white eye shadow palette proves it!

smashbox heartbreaker collection, hot date, eye shadow palette, valentine's day, beauty blog, makeup blog, makeup review

Part of the smashbox Heartbreaker collection, the “Hot Date” eyeshadow palette contains 6 shadows: three must-have neutral shades, two in-your-face shades of aqua and one dusky-matte gray.

I’m enthralled by the green-blue shadow shades.  One is a deep, dark, sparkling shade of marine. The other is a super-pale seafoam.  What a total throwback to the 80s!

This pocket-sized palette wins extra popularity points for its portability, and included mirror.  It measures at a petite 3.5″ wide, 2″ high and slightly under 1/2″ deep.  It’s barely detected in the pocket of your favorite denim, and yet the mirror is just the right size for on-the go application.

This palette will definitely accompany me on my next vacation.

avon smooth minerals eyeshadow review, makeup review, makeup blog, beauty review, beauty blog, beauty newsI’ll admit, I am a total makeup snob.  “Value” brands utilizing cheap ingredients are no value at all in my eyes.

The ingredients in Avon’s smooth minerals eyeshadow plants them in the “luxe” camp.  Formulated with 100% naturally derived pignments, these shadows feel as smooth as silk when applied (a big selling point for me), and the colors are rich, intense and so blendable.

Each shadow is allergy and dermatologist tested.  Avon gives smooth minerals eyeshadow a stamp of approval for those with sensitive skin.

avon tribal teals, avon shadow quad, avon eye shadow review, beauty review, makeup review, beauty blog, makeup blogWhat eye makeup would Lois Lane use for a hot date with Superman at his icy Fortress of Solitude?  Most certainly Avon’s True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Textured Teal!

Textured Teal is a fairly new addition to the Avon color collection, introduced in Fall 2009 as part of “Tribal Teals”.  Though Fall slowly morphed into Winter, this quad is still extremely relevant.  Packed with cool, snowy blues an icy gray and ashen taupe, the palette of colors resembles a snow-scape on a clear day.

The price tag of this palette is as compelling as the colors!  The true color eyeshadow quad is a mere $8!
