NARS Powerfall Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow

The NARS Powerfall Collection is filled with neutral hues, except for these three NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows. Three new shades have been added to the permanent Dual-Intensity collection, and they each add a statement to an otherwise natural look.

In case you’ve forgotten how incredible these shadows are, let me remind you.  These incredibly vivid shadows apply smoothly and evenly, can be applied wet or dry!

NARS Powerfall Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Swatches: Antares, Arcturus, and Rigel

The polar opposite of all of the matte finishes we’ve been seeing, these three Dual-Intensity shades are gleaming with a shimmery finish.  Antares is an icy silver-white, Arcturus is a regal deep navy, and Rigel is a vivid peach shimmer.

Retail price is $29 per shadow.

NARS Powerfall Collection 2016

NARS Powerfall Collection 2016

press-sampleI’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  The ONLY thing I like about Fall are the makeup collections.  The NARS Powerfall collection for Fall 2016 is all about accentuating and defining what you have.  Glowing skin, chiseled cheekbones, and classic red lips are the defining characteristics of this collection.

NARS Powerfall Fall 2016

Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Infatuated Red and Consuming Red, $26.

I’ll be diving deep into this collection in future posts!  It’s simply too good to “gloss” over in one post.  In the meanwhile…

Smashbox Photo Matte Shadow Eyes Palette Review, Swatches

Smashbox NEW Photo Matte Shadow Palette Review

Smashbox NEW Photo Matte Shadow Palette Review

press-sampleYou’re a jaded makeup lover, like me. So when you look at the image above, you’re likely wondering, “Why on earth would I need yet another neutral eye palette?” I’ve been singing the praises of these Smashbox palettes since the moment I first used one, and yes… the Smashbox Photo Matte Eyes Palette is equally revolutionary.

This Smashbox palette contains only matte shadow shades.  These shadows can be used wet or dry depending on the color payoff you desire, but they can also be used as both liner AND brow powder! The most popular “go-to” base shades are now double the size, so you won’t hit pan on your favorites when the rest of the palette is full.

Smashbox Photo Matte Swatches above (starting from upper left, clockwise): Desert, Heirloom, Dune, Vanilla, Canyon, Suede, and Earthy.  The left side of the palette features warm colors with a reddish undertone.  They’re great for a daytime or more natural look.  These were applied with no primer, so you can see the high pigment of the shadows!  They feel like silk when you apply, a true treat!

Retail price of the Smashbox Photo Matte Eyes Palette is $49.

Lancôme Miracle CC Cushion

Lancôme Miracle CC Cushion

press-sampleOne of the latest crazes in the world of beauty is color correction. Another is makeup in a sponge-compact form. Guess who formed a delightful marriage of these two trends? Lancôme Miracle CC Cushion is a recent launch and welcome addition to the world of color correcting products. This product is simply a dream for those who have larger areas of skin affected by skin discoloration or breakouts, and simultaneously acts as a solid foundation primer.

This new color correction solution from Lancôme comes in the four shades shown above (from left to right):  Pinky Peach, Green, Yellow, and Purple.  Pinky Peach is a dream for those with undereye darkness.  Green is the go-to for those with rosacea or acne.  Yellow (which leans more orange) breathes new life as an overall color corrector for darker skintones, and also evens out dark patches. Purple brightens dull skin and cancels out yellow undertones.

For those who purchase more than one, each compact features a lid color that coordinates with the product inside, making it easy to spot what you need in your collection.  Each compact in the collection also comes with a sponge for application and blending.

Retail price is $39.50 per compact. How many shades do you need?

Retailers include Lancome-usa.com, Nordstrom.com, NeimanMarcus.com, Bloomingdales.com, and Saks.com.

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte-matic Liner

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Eyeliner

L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte Eyeliner

press-sampleMatte EVERYTHING baby! These beautiful L’Oreal Paris Infallible Matte-matic Eyeliner pencils are so easy to find, you can scoop up a handful while you’re running your weekly errands. Smart shoppers will opt to find them at Ulta (a retailer that frequently offers discounts on L’Oréal products including BOGO deals).  Two things I tend to hoard: lip color and eye pencils.  These affordable gems are a great way to satisfy your inner-hoarder, without blowing your budget!

L’Oreal Matte Eyeliner Swatches: Ultra Black, Navy Matte, Deep Brown, Taupe Grey

I’m not just pointing you to these eye pencils because they are affordable.  I really LOVE them!  They deliver intense, smooth color and long wear time!  Another big pro?  The gel-based formula is really easy to control.  A thin barely-there line can be applied near the lash line, or you can blend the pencil after application for the ultimate in smokiness.  Swatches shown above: Ultra Black (pitch black), Navy Matte (deep midnight blue), Deep Brown (medium golden brown), and Taupe Grey (gray with a teeny hint of brown).  My personal favorite of the bunch is matte grey.  This cool-hued neutral is a brown-eyed girl’s best friend.

Retail price is $8.99 per pencil.  Currently Ulta.com is offering a buy one get one at 50% off deal on these beauties (and trust me, you need more than one).

Other retailers include Target and L’Oréal.
