Smashbox Lash Solutions

beauty blog, makeup blog, product reviews blog, beauty reviews blogI’ve been getting better acquainted with Smashbox mascara and lash primer options.  In the photo above from left to right: Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black, Smashbox Indecent Exposure Mascara in Deep Black, Smashbox X-Rated Mascara in Rich Black, and Smashbox Photo Finish Lash Primer.  So many mascaras and so little time!  So which do you choose for your lash needs?

Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara:  This is the “old faithful” of Smashbox mascara options!  It comes in this standard form, and also a waterproof option. For thick, long, noticeable lashes this is your pick! The black color is a tad shiny, and also contains olive oil to take care of your fringe. $22.

Smashbox Indecent Exposure Mascara: This mascara was formulated for perfection.  There’s something about this particular shade of black that seems soft and sooty to me, so I like to pair it with a kohl liner for the ultimate in smokiness.  $22.

Smashbox X-Rated Mascara: I’ll admit, I’m in love with this product for the twisted tube alone!  But when I’m looking for length and separation, this is the tube I reach for.  This mascara is a fiber formula, and able to really build out length.  $22.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lash Primer: This base-coat delivers the perfect beginning to your mascara application.  It appears a bit white upon application, but vanishes completely when mascara is applied over it. $22

What do you think?  Which formula would you choose to meet your needs?

Keep scrolling for more photos!  Retail price of each mascara is $22.  Click HERE to buy from Smashbox.com. Other retailers of the brand include Sephora, Macys.com and Ulta.

NARS NEW Velvet Eyeliner Collection, NARS Powerfall 2016

press-samplePart of the amazing NARS Powerfall 2016 makeup collection, the latest eyeliner formula by NARS has been so amazingly fun to play with!  NARS Velvet Eyeliner pencils are malleable when they are applied, giving the wearer plenty of time to smudge them to perfection.  Looking for more impact?  This color is buildable, so simply apply until you achieve the intensity you desire.

NARS Velvet Eyeliner Swatches:

The new NARS Velvet Eyeliner delivers pigment that is amazingly rich.  Swatches from left to right:  Darklight-a deep navy blue that almost looks black, Kaliste– a rich deep evergreen, Curacao– a bright cerulean blue, London– a dark ashy taupe, Las Pozas– a bright pearly white, Mambo– a rich chocolate brown, Last Frontier– an ultra-dark brown, Black Moon– a rich glossy black, and Blue Lotus– an almost purple shade of violet.  As you can see above, the finish is a soft, modern, semi-matte.

On this beauty bloggers wishlist? NARS Velvet Eyeliner pencils in a waterproof formula!  Please, please, please?

Retail price is $24.

The wooden pencil itself looks like something a schoolgirl would carry. The tip is easily sharpened, and sharpening doesn’t make a mess or leave a misshapen tip.

Things I Buy From Sephora Over And Over

press-sampleI have fallen a bit behind with blogging, and while I’m working on bringing in some more new fall and holiday items for you to check out, I decided to post about some of my tried-and-true favorites when I’m shopping at Sephora. Some of these items I’ve received as press samples in the past, but I’ve replenished them over, and over, and over again!

Things I buy from Sephora over and over

Rather than feature what’s NEW in the beauty industry, I decided to feature some of my tried-and-true favorite products that I’ve purchased over and over again at Sephora. Some of these started off as press samples, but at this point I assure you I’ve spent a pretty penny of my own money on replenishment, because they were that awesome!

1) Klorane Shampoo With Mango Butter is ideal for my very dry hair, and the formula doesn’t irritate my scalp the way some shampoos do! I even pack some to bring with me on vacations. (Retail price $20)

2) Klorane Conditioning Balm With Mango Butter is the perfect match for the shampoo above, and leaves hair feeling super soft, healthy, and tangle-free! (Retail price $16)

3) Make Up For Ever Kohl Pencil delivers a soft, smoky look. I originally sampled them in a MEGA holiday value set (that I wish the brand would offer again–fingers crossed) and have replenished them many times over! I love these pencils in every color! (Retail price $18)

4) Algenist Repairing Tint & Radiance Moisturizer SPF 30 is one of my favorite multi-tasking foundations. This medium-coverage tinted moisturizer delivers a dewy finish, anti-aging ingredients, and sun protection at the same time! (Retail price $42)

5) Bobbi Brown Corrector is my long-time favorite under eye concealer. The slightly orange hue cancels out blue undereye circles like a champ. (Retail price $27)

6) Lancôme Definicils Waterproof Mascara delivers natural-looking long lashes that pass my “waterslide test” with flying colors. (Retail price $27.50)

7) Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette was originally a holiday offering, but this trio of complexion perfecting powders was such a hit, it’s been available ever since! I’ve purchased refills for myself, and have even given this as a gift I love it so much. (Retail price $62)

8) Philosophy Purity Made Simple is my go-to cleanser/makeup remover that’s a great balance between performance and price. Skin is left feeling clean and balanced. (Retail price $24 for 8 oz)

9) Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral is the perfect touch-up for those who need to reapply SPF before heading out in the afternoon. I’ve been buying this for so many years, I’ve lost count! (Retail price $30)

10) Sephora Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover is another product that delivers great performance for a steal. This formula easily removes even waterproof eye makeup, and costs much less than similar products. (Retail price $11)

11) Clinique Broad Spectrum SPF50 Sunscreen wears beautifully under makeup, doesn’t look pasty white, and protects the skin so well! I’ve tried dozens of high-end sunblocks, but this is my favorite among them to wear under makeup, or stand-alone. (Retail price $23)

12) NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer became an instant favorite the first time I used it. This product delivers more coverage than the average tinted moisturizer, but still looks natural and “barely-there”. It’s ideal for daytime wear, or for a day at the beach! (Retail price $44)

13) Kate Somerville Exfolikate Body might be intended for all-over body use, but I also use this physical/chemical scrub on my t-zone to clear and refine pores. (Retail price $65)

These items can all be purchased from Sephora.com and many other beauty retailers. To read my individual reviews on each, click the hyperlinks above!

Some of the products mentioned above have been received as press samples in the past, but all have been re-purchased by me with my own money. Please click HERE to read my full disclosure.

L’Oreal Green Promenade, Sunset Seine, and Paris Beach

beauty blog, makeup blog, product reviews blog, beauty reviews blogFall is approaching, fast and furious, so it seemed appropriate that I pull together a L’Oreal Fall Perfection Trio.  These L’Oréal Colour Riche Monos shades are perfect to add that touch of autumn to your look.  Their petite size is ideal for mixing and matching, and feature a gel-to-powder formula that is silky to the touch!

L'Oreal Green Promenade, Sunset Seine, and Paris Beach Swatch

L’Oreal Green Promenade, Sunset Seine, and Paris Beach Swatch

Featured above are three shades of L’Oréal Colour Riche Monos Eyeshadow that are my top picks for Fall.  From left to right: Green Promenade is a rich emerald green with a hint of gold. Deep shades of green like this are perennially perfect for Fall.  Sunset Seine is a zesty golden orange that bridges from summer to fall perfectly, and adds that touch of fall foliage to your eye makeup.  Paris Beach is a pale warm ivory that works great as a highlight, and has warm undertones that are perfect for Fall.

Retail price is $5.99 per shadow, but keep your eye out for deals at Ulta because you can grab a discount now and then!  Right now the steal is buy two get one free!  Retailers include Ulta.com, Target, and you can buy direct from L’Oreal.

NARS Powerfall Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow

The NARS Powerfall Collection is filled with neutral hues, except for these three NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows. Three new shades have been added to the permanent Dual-Intensity collection, and they each add a statement to an otherwise natural look.

In case you’ve forgotten how incredible these shadows are, let me remind you.  These incredibly vivid shadows apply smoothly and evenly, can be applied wet or dry!

NARS Powerfall Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Swatches: Antares, Arcturus, and Rigel

NARS Powerfall Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Swatches: Antares, Arcturus, and Rigel

The polar opposite of all of the matte finishes we’ve been seeing, these three Dual-Intensity shades are gleaming with a shimmery finish.  Antares is an icy silver-white, Arcturus is a regal deep navy, and Rigel is a vivid peach shimmer.

Retail price is $29 per shadow.
