I wrote a post eons ago, about almost-black mascaras that featured subtle color like blue and purple. Well dear readers, things have CHANGED. The 80s are back, and I mean back in full-force. The big trend for eyes is color, and Make Up For Ever’s Smoky Couleur Fall 2011 collection contains brightly-hued mascaras like the Smoky Lash swatches above. [Read more...]

MAC Ice Parade Snowglobe Eyeshadow x6, Warm
Oh, MAC! As if it isn’t already difficult enough for this Mom to keep her precious products out of the paws of my two little boys! The silver-glitter filled snow-globe atop MAC’s petite eyeshadow x6 palettes make them irresistible to the young, but giftable for the rest of us. [Read more...]

MAC Fluidline photograped above (l-r) Dark Envy, Midnight Blues and Avenue.
The jewel-tones of Fall are well represented in MAC Fluidline’s shade selection! This gel formula makes application easier, as it simply glides upon the surface of the skin. Simply pair a pot of color with a great liner brush, and watch the magic happen! [Read more...]

I will admit, I was originally scared of the Evil Eye Shadow Quad from MAC. Part of the MAC Me Over collection, the shades in this palette seemed way too dark for ordinary Mommy day-wear. I simply couldn’t imagine how an eyeshadow palette this dark would translate. The good news for we soccer mom types is the palette mixes two higher-pigment shades (Moody and Palace Pedigreed) with two lower-pigment shades (Spellcaster and Evil Eye) that have more of a soft, watercolor appearance. As a result, MAC’s Evil Eye Shadow x4 CAN actually work during the day providing you make use of the sheerer shades for some balance. [Read more...]

It’s no surprise that MAC’s marketing of the Art of Powder collection focuses on this Street Art Eye Shadow compact. This piece truly is a work of art. The brand has blended staple eye shadow shades for Fall 2011 into a graffiti design so intricate, you need to really look at it up close to appreciate its detail. From stenciled words to a brick-face texture, this makeup looks just like the side of a building.
This product isn’t just a pretty face! From a practicality standpoint, its very easy to single out each shadow color using a standard dome-shaped eye shadow brush.
Shades included in the Street Art Eye Shadow palette: Light brown, white, light cool blue, warm orange, pastel pink and pastel blue.
Retail price is $38 .

Most makeup bags contain at least one earth-toned eyeshadow. Let’s face it, neutral shades are a beauty staple… and probably always will be! If you’re looking to replenish your tried and true beige, there are a wealth of head-turning choices in the MAC Me Over! collection.

Photographed from left to right: Mythical, Satin Taupe, Moleskin and Outre. [Read more...]

Regular readers of this beauty blog are aware of the fact that–trends ignored–I’ve always been a fan of a hint of color on the eyes. If you’re looking to ditch standard brown and black shades, the makeup of Fall 2011 will certainly be pleasing to you! Color is making a comeback, and one brand fully embracing this trend is Make Up For Ever. [Read more...]

The “it” color for eyes this fall? GREEN, GREEN, GREEN! Estee Lauder has launched the Emerald Oasis Five Color EyeShadow palette that can be used to rock the color green in a variety of ways. Want a bright, illuminated look? The flashy green at the top of the palette and the cool white shade at the left can help you achieve this. In search of something more earthy? The rusty brown shade at the right of the palette used with the more subtle golden green at the bottom are perfect for this effect. [Read more...]
