Blinc Lash Curler

icon

Don’t you find it strange that to curl our delicate eyelashes we use a contraption that physically bends them?  With each use of pressure to set a curl, you run the risk of pulling out or even breaking your lashes.  The people at Blinc found this harsh process strange, too.  Similar to their other innovative products, Blinc developed an imaginative solution.

The Blinc Lash Curler heats up in a flash, and is as easy to use as brushing the lashes upward (holding 5 seconds) and curling them back (holding for another 5 seconds).  The results were fantastic.  In fact, my lashes seemed to hold the curl far longer using the heated curler than any traditional curler I’ve ever used.

Why is the Blinc curler different from other heated curlers?  Unlike many other heated lash curlers in the marketplace, Blinc took into account just how much heat would be "too much" for your delicate lashes.  Their rule of thumb for consumers is to avoid the following: any heated lash curler that requires more than one AAA battery for power, that requires a battery larger than AAA for power, or requires plugging into the wall with an adapter.

This eyelash curler was smartly designed with a built-in guard to prevent the heat mechanism from contacting your skin and eyes.  As a bonus, it’s small enough to carry.  You can purchase the curler for $25.00 directly from Blinc.

E.L.F. All Over Color Stick

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, E.L.F.’s All Over Color Stick is the exact type of product I choose to tote along with me on my travels because it’s an eyeshadow, blush and gloss in one tiny tube.  Glide it over cheeks for a dewy, rosy glow.  Dab it on your eyelids for shadow and brush it on lips for gloss.  One stick is all you need for some casual daytime color, and it’s small enough to slip into a clutch.  I personally sampled "Persimmon", and love it.  It’s a pale neutral shade with just a hint of pink, perfect for all complexions.

Use coupon code "gloss" and receive a free Supper Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 with any purchase of $15 or more.

Blinc Lash Primer

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, iconRecently I added a new step to my beauty regimen: Blinc Lash Primer.  This vitamin-enriched cream conditions and heals delicate lash hair.  Used prior to mascara application, it creates a base coat to amplify the effect of mascara.  Used before bed, it soaks into the lashes to keep them soft and strong.

Think about the time and money you spend caring for the hair on your head.  Don’t you think your lashes deserve a fraction of that attention?

Off-Label Use: Tarte Eyeshadow

My Tarte eyeshadow in “Valley of the Dolls” is practically empty, so I’ll need to snag myself a replacement quickly.  Here’s the interesting thing…  I rarely use this eyeshadow on my eyes.  Because my skin is so fair, this shimmery white shadow makes a perfect highlighter–one that adds more contrast than many products marketed as highlighters.

I’d love to hear from any of you, if you have an “off-label” use for a favorite product.

Blinc Kiss Me Eyeliner

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, iconIf Blinc sent a sample of their "Kiss Me" mascara to every consumer in this country, they would quickly become a mascara monopoly.

Similar to Blinc mascara, their eyeliner can only be removed with a combination of pressure and warm water.  While liquid eyeliner has always been intimidating, this product was a snap to apply using the precision brush in the bottle.  I was able to draw a perfect, black, Dita Von Teese-worthy black line above my upper lashes.  It didn’t budge ALL DAY!

Trish McEvoy Petite 18k Makeup Planner and Power of Makeup Palette

Trish McEvoy is well known for her amazing skill as a makeup artist and her high-quality product.  But the organizational tools for her makeup line is what really sets her product apart from the rest.  This adorable planner is sized for both petite and mini makeup pages, and comes with a Power of Makeup Palette.  I love how it has handles, for easy carrying.

The New Neutrals

Women of my generation are terrified to use shadows with color.  I think we’re scarred because we all saw the super-rich high-pigment colors worn in the 80′s firsthand.

When a makeup artist recently tried to put some pale green eyeshadow on me, I hesitated.  But the color itself was so sheer and barely-there, it wasn’t flashy.  The hint of green really makes brown eyes pop.

The aforementioned eyeshadow was Chanel’s "Nymphéa" (the image below is NOT of the correct colors).  I highly recommend it for a splurge.

L’Oreal Plenitude Refreshing Eye Makeup Remover

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, iconMy skin clings to color, especially variations of blue.  Much to my embarrassment, my college professors were always able to see exactly which bars I had hit the night before–a tale told by blue, purple and black stamps on my hands.  Despite scrubbing at my hands as if cleaning a dirty stove-top, the ink would not wash off.

Eyeliner caused a similar problem.  Regardless of how clean my eyes looked before bed, I would wake looking like a raccoon.  Luckily, after searching high and low, I found an eye makeup remover tough enough to fully remove my eyeliner.  It’s nothing budget-busting, just good ol’ drugstore-stocked L’oreal

A newer favorite, and a perfect travel companion, is E.L.F. eye makeup remover pads.  They remove eye-makeup thoroughly, and come in a convenient case.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Vault

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, I love organizational tools like this!  Urban decay has manufactured an eyeshadow vault, designed to hold 16 of their shadows.  If you buy 6 eyeshadows on their site, you can get the vault for only $15 (it’s ordinarily $25).  The discount carries through to the shadows.  The more you buy, the larger the % off you’ll get!  You can get more details by clicking the image.

Blinc Kiss Me Mascara

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, iconI’m going to have to eat crow and take back what I wrote in a previous post about all mascaras being the same.  The truth is, with all of the R&D in the multi-billion dollar personal care products industry, some innovative product has resulted.

Blinc "Kiss Me" mascara doesn’t just paint the lashes as traditional mascaras do.  It surrounds each lash in an actual tube of color impervious to running and smudging.  I admit, the idea of this creeped me out at first.  I got past my initial hesitation, and now "Kiss Me" is my mascara of choice.

Immediately upon application, I noticed that my lashes looked more voluminous.  Unlike other mascaras I have tried that made my lashes appear just thicker or longer, this seemed to actually give the appearance that I had more of them (if that’s even possible).  I then put its staying power to the test.  I napped while wearing the mascara, and woke to find… nothing!  Usually if I fall asleep wearing mascara, I awaken to dark smears around my eyes that require repair.  I also wore the mascara for a nice long soak in the tub, and emerged to find no running whatsoever!  I even wore the mascara during a massage, and despite lying face-down for the better part of an hour, this mascara stayed put.  Its staying-power is truly wedding worthy.

Removal of the product isn’t tricky at all.  I just rubbed a cotton pad soaked with my usual eye-makeup remover across my lashes, and the little tubes came right off on the pad.  You can even see them!
