Suede, Michael Kors Spring 2012

Aiming to deliver a scent as chic and sporting as their clothing designs, the Michael Kors team has launched “Suede”, named after the fabric that can be both sultry and sexy or tough and rugged.  Doesn’t that describe women in general? [Read more...]

L’Occitane Cherry Blossom Fragrance Review

L'Occitane Cherry Blossom Collection

In my early 20s, I moved to the city I had always found most magical… Washington, DC! In the Spring, strolling solo from my apartment to the Jefferson Memorial was my absolute favorite thing.  In my childhood, the Jefferson Memorial was where I first thought, “This is where I want to live, someday.” [Read more...]

Kate Walsh Has A Billionaire Boyfriend!

Billionaire Boyfriend, Kate Walsh

I recently enjoyed a luxurious vacation destination in a warm climate. It was the kind of place where you’ll see parents circled by gaggles of crazy kids, yet Mom is still draped in jewels and designer accessories. In short, it was the kind of location that reminded me of Kate Walsh’s new fragrance Billionaire Boyfriend. [Read more...]

Pacifica Island Vanilla Is A Vacation In A Bottle!

Pacifica Island Vanilla

When the holiday lights come down in the new year, suddenly the realities of Winter set in.  Here in Seattle, January means wet, bleak, cold and gray.  One way of dealing with Winter doldrums is to plan escapes to sunny and warm places, but let’s face it… we all really need a daily escape from the harshness of the Winter months even if only for a minute.

Lavanila’s Latest: Vanilla Blackberry

Lavanila Vanilla Blackberry Review Fragrance

Near my house, there’s an adorable farm that also happens to have an amusement park.  My family is a fixture at this farm–it’s way too fun during the summer months!  They also happen to make the most fabulous baked goods, using their own fresh produce and other locally grown produce as ingredients.  Since discovering their Marion Berry pie, I’ve stopped baking for Thanksgiving dessert.  Their pie is 100x better than anything I’d make! Kenzo FlowerTag Fragrance Review

kenzo flower tag fragrance reviewOur first 65 degree day of the Fall was also cloudy.  All it took was one day with no sunshine or warmth and **bam**, I felt like I hit a wall.  My energy level positively plummeted, and I tried to caffeinate my lethargy away to no avail.

The newest bloom in KENZO’s “flower” family–FlowerTag–is an invigorating scent that brightened my mood on that dreary day.  My guess is the zing of mandarin in the scent was what gave my spirits a lift.  FlowerTag is the ultimate combination of sweet flowers and succulent fruit, and, the bright “rouge” bottle had me at hello. Fan di Fendi Fragrance Review

fan di fendi fragrance review

The Fendi brand has been around since 1925!  To celebrate Fendi’s 60th birthday, their first-ever fragrance was launched.  Over the years, Fendi has launched and discontinued various scents.  By 2010, the number of Fendi fragrances available in the marketplace was… an astonishing ZERO!  Hard to believe, isn’t it?

Well, if you’ve been sulking over the lack of Fendi fragrance options, Fall 2011 is a lucky season for you!  Fan di Fendi–the anxiously awaited new Fendi fragrance–has finally hit shelves!

Fan di Fendi is sensual and polished, and not overpowering.  To me the fragrance is all about taste, wealth and sophistication.  I imagine the woman who wears it to be dressed to the nines and excruciatingly successful.  Funny, because the ads wrapped around the scent tell a completely different story from my impression!  This blogger is always a fan of superb packaging, and Fendi did not disappoint.  Created in 1965 by Karl Lagerfeld himself, the ”FF” logo is still a status symbol almost 50 years later.  Naturally, it is fitting for this recognizable logo to be selected as the design for the of the bottle, gleaming in a mirror-finish opulent gold.

Top Notes: Pear blackcurrant accord, tangerine from Calabria and pink peppercorn from Reunion Island

Heart Notes: Damascena rose and yellow jasmine

Base Notes: Soft leather accord and patchouli from Indonesia

Paris Amour: New Scent by Bath and Body Works

paris amour bath and body works

I was lucky enough to visit Paris with my husband for our honeymoon.  While we stopped in many romantic places during our stay in Europe, I’ll admit there was certainly something simply magical about Paris.  I think it was the relaxed, easy-going pace I loved most.  When we visited the city of lights, there was no Starbucks in Paris.  The expectation for anyone who wished to enjoy a coffee or a sandwich was that you would sit down in a cafe–perhaps for hours–just watching the world go by and enjoying the company of your friends. Ange ou Demon le Secret Elixir, Givenchy’s Latest!

givenchy ange au demon fragrance reviewKeep in mind that I spend my entire day with one or both of my small children…  The first thing I thought when I smelled Givenchy’s new Ange ou Demon fragrance was “mmm!  Pez!”

Yes, the scent certainly has an innocent fruity candy-element to it, but also captured in this update of Givenchy’s best-seller is a sexy oriental essence.

Angel or Demon indeed…  This scent combination certainly can confuse the consciousness!  But, I’ll dare to answer the question Givenchy poses.  This scent is clearly Demon, as something Angelic couldn’t possibly be so dangerously addictive! [Read more...]

Awesome Herbal Fragrance!

I wrote about Liz Earle’s Botanical Essence No. 1 when it first launched, and with Fall quickly approaching it had been on my mind once again. Why? This sophisticated herbal fragrance is an excellent scent to use as the summer weather gradually transitions into the cooler days of Fall. It’s not as light and energetic as a typical Summer scent, nor is it as warm and musky as scents formulated for cooler months. Liz Earle’s Botanical Essence No. 1 is ideal for the days in-between.
