estee lauder pure color gloss, star pink, swatches, reviews, makeup reviews blog

At this point, I’ve sampled many shades of Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss… and seriously love EACH ONE.  Makeup Mavens can tell Tom Pecheux’s team at Estee Lauder put careful consideration into which gloss colors were modern and classic enough to make the cut.

My latest favorite from the Estee Lauder Pure Color Gloss collection is pictured above:  Star Pink.  Introduced as part of the Blue Dahlia Fall 2010 collection, Star Pink was part of the “Surreal Violet” makeup look.  This shade is a lighter-than-air sheer pink.  Terrific to wear on its own for a natural look, it’s also my “go to” gloss for layering over lipstick.

The non-sticky formula and sweet Estee Lauder signature fig scent are helping this gloss win the hearts of beauty addicts everywhere!

Retail price is $20.

When it comes to offering breadth and depth of selection, Make Up For Ever means business.  This Fall–as more and more makeup mavens are ditching glosses for lipstick–Make Up For Ever has launched Rouge Artist Intense.  Pigment is this product’s claim to fame, as the formula contains 50% more pigment than a traditional lipstick.

The Rouge Artist Intense collection contains three different finishes and 50 different shades, including golds, pinks, nudes, reds, purples and even black!  Not sure which shade would flatter you most?  Make Up For Ever has developed the coolest shade-finder tool that can be found in-store at Sephora or online at Sephora.com.  Based on your hair and skin color, the shade-finder wheel will narrow down this enormous selection to a few choices that would work best for you!

Retail price is $19 per lipstick.  For a perfect application, the brand offers Lip Brush #3N for $18.

mac digi-dazzle collection fall 2010

MAC Cosmetics Fall 2010 lineup thus far is dazzling to the extreme! Digi-Dazzle, a limited-edition collection of Dazzle Lipsticks, contains 13 different shades of lipstick that glitter like no other!

I sampled two lipsticks from the collection, photographed above: Hellraiser (left) and Naughty You (right).

Clearly, these lipstick shades aren’t intended for office wear!  Dazzle Lipstick is a great choice for parties or other fun events, and not only because they are playful!  This formula is long-wearing in a most-impressive way!

mac cosmetics dare to wear collection fall 2010

The MAC Cosmetics Dare To Wear Collection is for a special kind of gal… the one who not only refuses to be ignored, but makes a complete scene in order to be the center of attention!

Dare To Wear–a limited-edition makeup collection for Fall 2010– contains super-bright shadows in rainbow colors, and daringly bold lipglass shades with metallic finishes.

I’m loving these in-your-face shades, though I must admit they wouldn’t really look appropriate for my day-to-day.  Still, I plan to keep Wind Me Up in my rotation, and I’m stashing Bold & Brash for the next date night!

nars cosmetics pure sheer spf lip treatmentI (sniff, sniff) am not preparing to go “back to school”.  But those who are should should be on the hunt for a lip treatment with SPF, like the latest from NARS.

NARS Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment has caused quite the stir in Hollywood!  But aside from its status as a beauty staple among the glitterati, there are some practical reasons for co-eds to select this product.  1)  It’s available in a variety of shades, from dark to pale.  2)  It imparts a natural look, perfect for day wear.  3)  It has an SPF 15, to help protect your pucker from the sun while you’re attending all of those Fall football games.  4)  The added Vitamin E helps to keep lips moist and healthy.

I had the opportunity to sample two shades of NARS Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment:  Aurore and Greta.  Both are gorgeous neutral shades that are universally flattering.  In fact, I’m still not sure which I prefer… they’re both so gorgeous!

lipstick swatch, Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay Mauve product review, best lipstick shades, best lipgloss shades, fall 2009Generally, I shy away from long lasting lip products as they can leave lips feeling chalky and dry.  Not so with Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Lipstick!  Not only do these lippies look lovely, but they resist the dreaded “makeup melt” that can affect us all this time of year.  As temperatures soar, I felt it necessary to revisit this line of lasting lip color in shades that are both Summer AND Fall-worthy!

In fact, I love them so much, I’ll be publishing swatches daily for the next four days, just to reaquaint you with this fab lineup.

The shade of the day?  Stay Mauve… a deep pinkish purple shade.  Don’t forget to pair it with stay in place lip pencil!  I used Rose for this swatch.

Retail price is $22 per lipstick and $19 per lip pencil.
