The modern manicure is all about mixing finishes, complementary colors, and the unexpected. I was playing with nail swatches the other day, and thought these three shades together would make an excellent purple manicure with a chrone accent nail for fall. All three of these shades are from the Sephora Formula X collection. [Read more...]
I’ve been a bit slow on the reviews these days, so I’m posting this just for fun. Here’s what it looks like when I play with nail lacquer. I’ve become a bit of a color hoarder these days, so my first step is to swatch every shade I own and put it in a fan deck. Then I can breeze through my color collection to see what I’m in the mood to wear. In the photo above, I’m playing with Nail Color to determine which would make a great mani/pedi combo. It’s so easy to do when you have actual samples of what a painted nail would look like in any given color. Plus, it’s just pretty damn fun.
These shades are all from the Sephora Formula X collection. You’ll be seeing more of these beauties in the future. While you’re waiting though, don’t miss Infatuated and Unmistakable for summer. I heart them. I’m wearing Unmistakable on my toes right now, topped with one of the new MAC Nail Transformation top coats (in Highlight).
This gorgeous image, featuring different luxe shades of red? Guess what? It’s all the same nail lacquer: MAC Russian Red! The only difference is the topcoat. Allow me to introduce you to the possibilities of MAC Nail Transformations!
Swatches of MAC Russian Red from left to right: MAC Russian Red (plain), Shadow, Liquid Pigment Gold, Overlaquer, Liquid Pigment Pink, Highlight, and Texturize. Click through for close-up swatches of each gorgeous nail transformation! [Read more...]
Do I love GREEN for Spring and Summer 2014? Why yes, I do! From the butter LONDON Lolly Brights collection is this pure shade of Kelly Green named Sozzled that I can’t get enough of!
There’s something about green and black that I love in the Spring, so my natural choice was to wear my shiny black patent Tory Burch Thora Sandals with my Sozzled pedicure. Click through for more photos, pricing, and where to buy! [Read more...]
So by now you realize I am obsessed with Sephora Formula X, so on a recent shopping trip I snapped this image of their latest shade/texture combo, “The Liquid Crystals“. I had a Sephora credit to use up, but didn’t end up taking the plunge. It’s interesting to see the colors other consumers are picking, isn’t it? You can see their orange shade (Magma) was completely sold out (and was my first choice as well) and the yellow (Highlighter) and green (Fluorescent) have only one bottle left!
These nail lacquers retail for $12.50 per bottle. Available at Sephora.com.
Ulta’s 21 days of beauty steals have started… and today’s deal is great for lovers of nail lacquer from butter LONDON!
Today until 9:00 pm, you can select two butter LONDON nail lacquers for a grand total of $15. What a great time to grab some shades for spring, or replenish a favorite!
Call me what you will, but two things are definitely true. 1) I am NO liar. and 2) I am the worst at nail art. The. Worst. So when I tell you that these Hot Designs Nail Art pens help to make nail art easy, you know that it’s a fact.
Here’s the low-down. The six colors included in this set are contained in three long, easily handled pen style device. You can either unscrew the top to paint your nails with a nail brush, or pop off the cap to reveal a tiny pin-point nail applicator. Nail polish is applied through the dotting tool with a very small squeeze, making it a snap create some simple designs.
The above three designs were created by me! I’m not going to claim they are any masterpiece, but trust me this is the best work I’ve ever done. Polka dots are fun and simple, and the Hot Designs Nail Art set makes that easy. The set includes some ideas that are easy to follow (like the hearts and flowers, shown above). One thing I will say is that this nail polish is on the thick side, so I would recommend using these tools only for nail art, rather than the base coat.
Hot Designs Nail Art Pens retail for $14.00 per set. The set above is the “basics” collection, but they also offer a “Glitz & Glam” set that contains trendier colors. Click HERE to check it out or check out the HSN set of 12 shades for $19.99.
Hot Designs is also hosting a Facebook Sweeps where fans can upload a picture of their best nails for a chance to win a package of Hot Designs each day. One will even win a $1,000 American Express gift card! Simply “like” Hot Designs on Facebook follow the hashtag #HOTnotd to take part in the fun.
