Another cute little “pair” of polishes from the Pierre Hardy for NARS collection! Easy Walking is a set of neutrals that are actually quite unusual. Easy Walking Left is a flashy rose gold, and Easy Walking Right is a neutral you don’t see too often on nails: Camel! Together, these shades redefine the neutral nail. [Read more...]

I was selecting a nail lacquer for a February vacation, and Estee Lauder’s Insatiable was an obvious winner for my pedicure. I had recently received this shade as a sample from their Pretty Naughty collection for Spring 2013. Not only is this dusky purple shade great for winter-wear, but colorful enough to flaunt with your flippies in hot climates!
Well, while the color lured me in, it’s the staying power that has really wowed me. I have been wearing this as my pedicure color for ONE MONTH as I write this, and it’s showing “grow out” signs, but there’s nary a chip! Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Nail Lacquer is truly impressive, with regard to wear time, and is formulated to be “Mom Tough”!
Retail price is $22.99.

It has been really interesting to watch as neutral shades slowly evolved from nude, to beige, into ashy taupe, and now into full-on shades of gray.
Part of the NARS Spring 2013 color collection is Disco Inferno Nail Lacquer, a clever, frosty silver-grey laced with lavender that actually transforms the shade of gray into something light and fun for Spring! [Read more...]

Originally introduced to the public in 2012 to celebrate the year of Pantone’s Tangerine Tango, Sephora’s Pantone Universe Collection is now all about EMERALD for Spring 2013. The packaging? I haven’t had too much opportunity to play with Julep Nail Lacquer yet, but the nail bloggers out there seem obsessed, so I was thrilled to get my hands on this slender little bottle of Boris and Nicole.
This shade is a classic burgundy with a hint of golden frost. It’s an ideal choice for someone who appreciates the classics, but still requires a modern twist. This deep rusty red is a winter staple, but the golden shimmer is a modern twist.
Julep Nail Color is “4-free” and does not contain formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, or DBP.
Regular retail price is $14. Maven price is $11.20.
Am I the only one who thinks Pantone phoned it in when they chose Emerald as the color of the year for 2013?
Well, anywho, if you’re the type of person who eagerly awaits Pantone’s Spring Color Report each Fall, you’ll love these nail lacquers by MAC! In the Limelight (at left) is from the Glamour Daze collection, and Blue Gaze (at Right) is from the Taste Temptation collection. In The Limelight is a dead-ringer for the Pantone color “Greyed Jade” and Blue Gaze is awfully similar to “Monaco Blue”. Both are perfect if you’re looking to invest in shades of nail lacquer that will be the hot colors of 2013.
In my opinion, this should have been the year of “Tender Shoots”, but I’m a lemming and set my phone theme color to Emerald anyway. Sigh.
Retail price is $17.50 for In The Limelight and $16 for Blue Gaze.

I LOVE butter LONDON for so many reasons.
Firstly–and most importantly–the brand is free of toluene, formaldehyde and DBP. Why wear these poisons when you don’t have to?
Secondly, the lacquer has an impressively long wear-time. This busy, hands-on Mom needs chip-resistant polish!
Thirdly, their color collections are always perfectly on-trend. The butter LONDON holiday 2012 lacquer collection contains five shades that gleam brighter than Christmas lights! [Read more...]
