Soy Indulgence Moisturizing Candles

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, Stumbling upon this locally-made travel candle was luck.  Its small lidded container makes it perfect for mess-free travel.  Light it when you settle into your hotel room for the night to freshen the air and create a tranquil environment.  Before sleep, blow out the candle and use the all-natural wax concoction on your elbows, cuticles or feet.  Anywhere you need extra moisturizing overnight!

E.L.F. Hypershine Mini Gloss Charms

E.L.F. Hypershine Mini Cell Phone Lip Gloss Charms are also ideal for travel.  Over the years I’ve carefully developed my packing skills, and I travel notoriously light.  Generally, I know exactly what I need and do not deviate.  The only items that trip me up are shoes and cosmetics.  I tend to want shoes for every occasion on hand, and a gloss in every color.  With these tiny little treasures, there’s no need to whittle down to one or two colors.  Just just pack them all and have every shade at your fingertips.  They even come with a short string to attach them to a cell phone, for added convenience.

Now if only I could find a similar solution for my shoes…

E.L.F. All Over Color Stick

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, E.L.F.’s All Over Color Stick is the exact type of product I choose to tote along with me on my travels because it’s an eyeshadow, blush and gloss in one tiny tube.  Glide it over cheeks for a dewy, rosy glow.  Dab it on your eyelids for shadow and brush it on lips for gloss.  One stick is all you need for some casual daytime color, and it’s small enough to slip into a clutch.  I personally sampled "Persimmon", and love it.  It’s a pale neutral shade with just a hint of pink, perfect for all complexions.

Cosmedicine Healthy Cleanse

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, My usual cleanser is not packaged in a travel-friendly size, so I have ventured to other brands to comply with the FAA carry-on regulations.  Cosmedicine Healthy Cleanse is a foaming cleanser and toner in a tiny 1.7 oz bottle.  It’s great for all skin types.  Just shake the bottle well and dispense the cleanser into your hand.  The nozzle creates a rich foamy lather that leaves the skin feeling refreshed.  It’s even gentle enough for eye-makeup removal!

Glo Minerals gloMoist Hydration Mist

Beauty, Beauty Blog, Beauty Blogger, Makeup, Cosmetics, Product Reviews, Makeup Reviews, Raging Rouge, Had you mentioned "Evian" to me in the 80s, it would not have conjured up images of bottled drinking water.  My mother always stocked bottles of Evian mist to replenish facial moisture throughout the day.

I recently snagged a similar product, called gloMoist Hydration Mist.  Ideal to keep at the office for a refresher, its 2 oz. size is also compact enough for application at 30,000 feet.  Simply spray a fine mist of water over your face to rehydrate.  You’ll be simultaneously giving your skin a healthy dose of antioxidants and anti-aging ingredients.

While most retailers sell it for $17.50, I snagged mine for $16.00 at Caliderma.  Caliderma sells some amazing skincare brands, such as GloMinerals, Jane Iredale and Kinerase.  Need to stock up?  Enter "Spring15" at check out and get 15% off of any order of $125 or more (excluding iS Clinical Products).

Molton Brown Healthy Hair Wash and Indian Cress Instant Conditioner

Once upon a time, I was a road-warrior.  Flying out to a client location on Monday and home on Friday, I lived out of a suitcase and called hotels "home".

To ensure my skin didn’t dry out and my hair didn’t frizz up, I packed my own shampoo, conditioner, soap and body lotion.  Hotel toiletries were notoriously low-end, and never what I needed.

That was then.  Today, many hotels provide high quality product for their guests.  Some have even found economical ways to do so.  Rather than stock thousands of bottles of crap shampoo that no one would like anyway, a hotel I recently stayed at was stocked with Molton Brown Shampoo, Conditioner and Soap.  Rather than provide small "stealable" bottles, they mounted large bottles to the wall.

After using Molton Brown Healthy Hair Wash and Indian Cress Instant Conditioner, my hair looked sleek and smooth.  The Molton Brown soap left my skin soft, not tacky the way deodorant hotel soaps of old once left it.  If only hotels had done this in the 90s, my suitcase would have been SO much lighter!

If you use the links to Molton Brown below, you’ll be buying through SpaLook at Amazon.com.  Order more than $100 through SpaLook, and you’ll earn a $20 gift certificate good for anything sold by Amazon.com!  Not a bad deal…

Welcome To Travel Week!

Recently, my husband and I enjoyed our first overnight getaway since our son was born.  Our 24 hour excursion was so relaxing, I felt like I had been on vacation for a week.  The experience prompted me to dream of the fun family trips we can plan for the summer.  Naturally, this train of thought also led me to think about all of the cool travel products I’ve seen and used lately.  This week is dedicated to them!  Enjoy!

Time To Purge?

Like many of us, my collection of cosmetics is a bit out of control.  Due to lack of space, I recently purged my collection of any product that was old and/or rarely used.  This exercise got me wondering just how long we should be hanging on to all of this fun stuff we’re buying.  According to an article entitled "Makeup Shelf Life" by Chrissy Dolezal, these guidelines should be used:

  • Oil-Free Foundation: 1 year
  • Cream or Compact Foundation: 18 months
  • Concealer: 12-18 months
  • Powder: 2 years
  • Blush and Bronzer: 2 years
  • Cream Blush: 12-18 months
  • Powder Eye shadow: 2 years Cream Eye shadow: 12-18 months
  • Eyeliner: 2 years
  • Liquid eyeliner: 3-6 months
  • Mascara: 3 months
  • Lipstick: 2 years
  • Lip liner: 2 years
  • Lip gloss: 18-24 months
  • Nail Color: 1 year
  • Of course, if at any time your cosmetics seem to change color or odor, chuck them immediately!
