Those in the fashion world are already focused on Fall 2009, but I'm too excited about Spring to even think about Summer ending! So here's a recap of how famed makeup artist Tina Turnbow used the tarte Spring 2009 makeup collection on the runway!
Charlotte Ronson Spring 2009 Look Makeup by Tina Turnbow
Lucky Star meets Grunge. Charlotte was really inspired by Madonna's Lucky Star stage with the added element of grunge. I used a neutral khaki-olive on the eye, the neutral palette keeps it grungy, but the application was a bit glam. -Tina Turnbow

You need your makeup to stay put all day, but wouldn't it be nice if your primer could do more than that? I'm noticing a trend where tarte cosmetics is concerned… it's never enough for a product to do only one thing. tarte's clean slate is formulated not only to help minimize the appearance of enlarged pores and fine lines, but to soothe and hydrate the skin. I love knowing it's formulated with good-for-the skin ingredients, but you know what will keep me coming back? It's "barely there" feeling on the skin.
Ingredients include: avocado oil (rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, D and E), echinacea root extract (helps reduce inflammation), hibiscus flower extract (helps with skin's elasticity), safflower seed oil (moisturizer) and tarte's own t5 super fruit complex (a proprietary blend of five anti-oxidant rich fruits).
Retail price is $27.

Just yesterday I covered the incredible new multi-tasking foundation launched by tarte. Today's post is a glowingly positive review of yet another multi-tasker from their complexion collection, "the eraser".
I've been having incredibly good luck where concealers are concerned… stumbling into one great concealer after another! tarte's formula is keeping my lucky streak alive! Rather than simply conceal flaws, the eraser saturates the skin with "skinvigorating" ingredients to actually improve its appearance! the eraser contains arnica flower extract (to reduce the appearance of dark undereye circles), cucumber extract (rich in vitamins A & C), olive oil (to retain moisture in the skin), safflower seed oil (deep moisturizer), vitamin C (to fight free radical damage) and vitamin E (an anti-inflammatory). It's a wonder product from those who suffer from dry skin, or dark undereye circles.
As part of their Spring 2009 collection, tarte has increased the color selection from 5 shades to 10. Shades include: Porcelain 00 (new– this one is for the fairest of them all, and it works beautifully for this hard-to-match pale-face), Fair 02, Bare 04 (new), Bisque 06, Golden Bisque 08 (new), Medium Beige 10, Golden Beige 12, Tan 14, Walnut 16 (new) and Chestnut 18 (new).
the eraser is dermatologist tested, mineral oil free, phthalate free and gluten free.
Retail price is only $19!

In my mid-twenties, I decided to start wearing foundation. My reason was perhaps unusual. I knew I would never wear an SPF daily unless it was somehow incorporated into makeup. So I started buying foundation with an SPF, and protected my skin while improving my appearance. Makeup multi-tasking!
tarte's recently launched ReCreate foundation not only contains a broad range UVA/UVB SPF 15 sunblock, but is designed to actually reverse the signs of aging!
Here are some clinical results for you, direct from the lab:
Significant increase in skin elasticity, firmness and resiliency an average of 22% after 2 weeks of use and 43% after 4 weeks of use (hello ladies! FAST results!)
Significant reduction in the appearance of fine lines and facial wrinkles an average of 39% after 4 weeks of use and 67% after 6 weeks of use.
52.8% increase in moisture of skin 15 minutes post application.
I am loving the full coverage this foundation provides, without looking or feeling heavy. The finish is positively dewy… perfect for Spring! With ReCreate, a little product goes a long way. It applies so smoothly, and is so easy to blend into the skin, you can easily really tiny amounts only on troublesome areas.
Want more reasons to try it yourself? How about this… ReCreate is paraben free, petro-chemical free, phthalate free, sulfate free, oil free (yes… you read that right!), fragrance free, dye free and talc free. Its a sensitive-skinned woman's dream come true. It's also dermatologist tested, and clinically tested.
ReCreate anti-aging foundation is available in 12 shades, and retails for $37. Find it by visiting tarte cosmetics online, Sephora.com, beauty.com, Henri Bendel or Bergdorf Goodman.

Does anyone even wear black mascara anymore? It seems everywhere I turn, iconic bestselling mascaras are stripping off their "little black dress" in favor of the equally chic aubergine. Newest to the purple party is smashbox Bionic Mascara!
smashbox Bionic Mascara was the first ionic mascara available on the market. Yes, it utilizes ionic technology to keep your lashes longer, stronger and more voluminous! Now this cult-favorite mascara formula is available in the deepest, darkest shade of barely-there violet. I'd imagine this mascara would look great on anyone, because it's a shade so close to black. Speaking from my own personal experience, this mascara shade really helps brown eyes pop!
Retail price $19.

Launched this Spring as part of its "Muse" collection, smashbox has introduced three new lip paints to include in your own personal makeup art studio!
First off, I have to mention the superior product packaging. The design of the tube is utterly fantastic, and enables perfect product control. When you simply remove the wand from the tube, only a tiny amount of gloss is waiting for application. This tiny amount is perfect for some barely-there color. If you're looking for a richer, deeper color, just squeeze the tube lightly to dispense more gloss through the top. Unlike some glosses that I've used in the past, this tube is totally mess free! You'll never have to worry about gloss spilling out through the top with this tube!
I sampled Muse lip paint in Luminary and Artiste. Luminary is a pale nude shade that is perfect for a natural look, or can be layered to create an opaque apricot shade. Applied minimally, Artiste looks like the flushed berry lips you wish you were born with. Layer Artiste, and flecks of gold spice up this bold berry shade!
smashbox recommends you actually combine the shades Luminary and Artiste to create the a perfect shade of nude. I can't wait to try that out!
Retail price is $21.
The smashbox muse collection (including a pink shade I didn't sample: Virtuoso) is available at beauty.com

Makeup is my muse, and the Spring 2009 collection by smashbox… appropriately named "Muse"… inspires me to write positively glowing product reviews! I'm particularly smitten with this palette of high-pigment eye shadow, and am officially naming it a Raging Rouge "must-have" for Spring. Ten shades are included in the Muse Artist Eye Palette, arranged in monochromatic duets of color. Each pair contains one bold/bright shade and one muted/subtle shade. Not accidentally, this palette looks exactly like a set of watercolors, and blend so well, they actually remind me of paint!
Inside of the paint-spattered compact, you'll find an extremely luxe shadow brush. The shadow brush is of such surprisingly high quality, you will certainly keep the brush long after the shadow is gone. The palette closes tight with a magnetic closure, and a 2 1/2" by 5 1/2" mirror is on the inside, for easy application on the go.
My favorite look for day is simple… I use the pale tan shade at the top left (biscuit) over my lid and up to the brow. I then line my eyes generously with the dark brown shade on the lower left (chocolate). It's that simple and looks beautiful! But don't let the earthy staple shades in the palette smother your inner artist. I combined the pale blue (Light Silver-Blue) and pale purple (Sheer Lilac) shades to create a gorgeously icy lilac shade that was to die for.
Retail price is $48.
Off label advice from smashbox: Intensify the smoky eye by applying clear lip gloss (try LIP ENHANCING GLOSS in CRYSTAL) over eye shadow for a runway-inspired wet look.

Had it not been for my beauty blog, I may never have sampled Benefit’s incredible line of Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liners. I was imprisoned by my misconception that cream-based shadow is overkill and heavy. Not so!
Cream-formula shadows rank among my favorites, and Benefit’s Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner ranks high among must-try brands. Each can be used as a smudgy eyeliner or a dewy shadow. For those terrified of cream shadow, allow me to ease your fears. These are amazingly sheer when applied, but color is buildable. Simply allow the product to set for 30 seconds, and apply again for bolder color! The finished look is shimmery… never chalky in appearance.
Retail price is $19. Be sure to check out the other colors from the Spring collection: flyin down to… (a lavender shade) and sippin’ and dippin’ (a gold shade).
