Last year, AG Hair Cosmetics raised $250,000 toward this lofty goal, and with help from tress-obsessed consumers, will do it again this year!  Want to do your part?  $6 from the sale of every pack of AG Hair Cosmetics School:girls will be donated to the Ganze Girls School in Kenya.  Currently, the school has only three classrooms and two bathrooms for over 300 female students!

The set includes AG’s protein-rich tech two shampoo and conditioner light.  They’re personal favorites of mine, as they moisturize dry hair without making it feel greasy or heavy.  I’m also fond of the candy-sweet scent!

Retail is $19.99

bobbi brown pretty powerful, pretty powerful bobbi brown, pretty powerful contest, spring 2010, bobbi brown pretty powerful campaign, bobbi brown cosmetics, dress for success

Bobbi Brown asked makeup devotees to submit videos of their top beauty tips and Pretty Powerful stories.  Fifteen semifinalists were chosen and have created a second round of videos demonstrating flawless and flattering makeup applications using Bobbi Brown Cosmetics’ Color Strips Palettes.  The gallery of these semifinalists’ videos is open for voting TODAY!

Most importantly, however, is that for every vote cast (up to $10,000), Bobbi Brown Cosmetics will donate $1 to Dress for Success, an organization close to Bobbi’s heart that provides underprivileged women with interview suits and career development advice.  To vote, head over to www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/prettypowerful.

Of course, Bobbi will also have some say. Once the public has voted and narrowed down the selection to the top 5 videos, she will hand-pick three grand prize winners to be flown to New York to join her for a master makeup class.  Lucky them!

MAC Viva Glam Swatches, MAC Viva Glam Reviews, Viva Glam Lipstick Swatches, Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick, Viva Glam cyndi swatches, beauty blog, cosmetics, mac reviews, makeup reviews, beauty news, cyndi lauper viva glam

Generally, I respect a celebrity’s right to lead a normal life free of fan harrassment.  I’ve run into my share of famous people while going about my business, and have almost always left them alone.

Except for the time I crossed paths with Cyndi Lauper while roaming the halls of NBC-10 Philadelphia.  Understanding the fact that she was most certainly very busy that day, I simply had to stop her for an autograph.  There she was, adorably petite, perfect-skinned and yellow haired.  I HAD to have proof that I saw her in the flesh!  All I had was a post-it note, and Cyndi complied by writing her well-known “love peace” autograph on my little scrap of paper.  What a thrill it was for me!

So why did I stop Cyndi?  Well, beyond being an amazingly talented singer and songwriter–Cyndi Lauper was a fashion icon for women who came of age in the mid-80s.  If my parents hadn’t vehemently objected, I most certainly would have sported her flame-red hairstyle made famous in her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun video!  Perhaps it is this deep-rooted love for Cyndi’s feminine but flaunt-it style that makes me gravitate to her Viva Glam Lipstick:  Cyndi.

MAC Viva Glam Swatches, MAC Viva Glam Reviews, Viva Glam Lipstick Swatches, Viva Glam Lady Gaga Lipstick, Viva Glam cyndi lauper swatches, beauty blog, cosmetics, mac reviews, makeup reviews, beauty news, cyndi viva glamThis deep shade is described as “light coral red” by MAC.  To me, it’s appearance is more of a deep hot pink, with just a touch of coral.  It’s the perfect bright-mouthed lipstick shade for Spring 2010… and don’t forget that 100% of the proceeds are donated to the MAC Aids Fund!
