smashbox fall 2010, smashbox masquerade

Among the many Fall 2010 makeup collections I am dying to get my mitts on is the latest from Smashbox!  Allow me to introduce the Masquerade collection! Masquerade launches in August of 2010, and can be purchased at Sephora.com, Smashbox.com or Nordstrom.com.  I’m dying over the bold shades in the eye shadow palette, punctuated by pale shades of ivory, pink and white.  Based on my positive experience with Fusion Soft Lights, I’m guessing the Baked Fusion Soft Lights Palette in Illusion will be a winner, as well.  What’s on your list?

EYE SHADOW PALETTE in MASQUERADE ($35)
(matte soft peach, shimmering black plum, matte taupe, metallic khaki, shimmering gold, bronze, metallic cabernet, shimmering navy, matte bone)
From subtle to ultra dramatic, the shades in this enticing palette disguise your eyes with a veil of magnetic color. Organized in complementary trios, the shades create coordinated looks for maximum intrigue.

BAKED FUSION SOFT LIGHTS PALETTE in ILLUSION ($32)
(champagne, soft gold, rosegold)
Create the illusion of a lit-from-within glow with this palette of shimmering shades, designed to illuminate cheeks, nose, forehead and décolleté. For the perfect cheek, pair with CREAMY CHEEK COLOR & BRUSH.

CREAMY CHEEK COLOR & BRUSH in INTRIGUE ($29)
(warm pink)
Formulated with antioxidant Vitamin E, this luxurious creamy cheek color will give cheeks a “just blushed” look—the perfect innocent disguise. Glide the creamy formula over the apples of cheeks, then blend with the brush for a flawless pop of color.

LIQUID LINER & LASH OVERLAY in TEAL & BRONZE ($19)
Cloak eyes in an air of mystery with this innovative two-in-one formula for lash line and lashes. Just line the eyes and then sweep the specially designed rod over a coat of mascara to “tip” the ends of lashes for a subtle yet intriguing look.

LIP ENHANCING GLOSS in REVEAL and DISGUISE ($19)
(golden nude, golden pink)
What’s behind that provocative pout? This ultra-moisturizing formula saturates lips with alluring color and shine. Vitamin E provides antioxidant protection and moisturization, while Sunflower seed oil nourishes lips.

O-GLOSS NOIR ($22) EXCLUSIVE TO SEPHORA
This disguise transforms before your very eyes—the sultry lip formula glides on black, then evolves into a custom bold berry hue tailored to your specific skin tone. Formulated with Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract and Goji Berry Extract to boost microcirculation as well as moisturizing Avocado Oil antioxidant Vitamin C and Pomegranate Seed Oil, O-Gloss Noir interacts with your personal skin chemistry to create a shade that’s unique to you.

natural makeup ideas, summer 2010 makeup ideas, summer 2010 makeup advice, summer 2010 makeup tricks, summer makeup ideas, summer makeup tips, summer makeup tricks, summer makeup advice, Gayle BrewerToday I have a special treat! Gayle Brewer, an LA makeup artist specializing in makeup application for Hispanic and Asian women, is sharing her expert advice!  Here’s Gayle’s take on how to achieve a natural, sun-kissed Summer makeup look!

Summer is officially here.  And, it’s time for new looks in makeup.

Many women like bright colors for summer makeup, but I think less is more particularly for younger women and teens.  I recommend sticking to neutrals during hot summer months.  Here are some makeup suggestions to achieve a fresh, sun-kissed look.

Pair an eggshell eye shadow such as Two Faced from Natural Eye Collection with dramatic, but not false, eye lashes.  Get them using very dark mascara such as Mabeline’s Great Lash Mascara.  It is the darkest black I have found, it stays on longer, and it does not clump. To keep with the natural look, use brown eyeliner under the eyes.  Try MAC Earthlink, it is a lighter shade that still adds depth to eyes.

Another good MAC product for a more dramatic night time look is Rapid Black Liquid for the upper lids.  It is sharp, not messy.  It works like a Sharpee so there is no need to keep dipping the applicator into the liquid which can make it difficult to form thin, uniform lines.

Go for pink shimmery cheeks, with the same color lipstick and gloss.  Or, try NARS Orgasm Bronzer as a blush and lipstick.  On cheeks, it makes skin look moist while giving it a healthy glow. And, the color is great for lips! It is very natural and its stays on longer than lipstick.

During the summer avoid heavy foundation.  It will make you look too overdone on hot, humid days.  A tinted moisturizer, the same color as your skin, will even out the skin tone, while looking natural. If you need more cover, use a little bit of regular foundation, not powder.  MAC Face and Body—Beach Days looks nice or, if you need more staying power, try Laura Mercier products.

There are several types of body bronzers that work well for achieving a sun-kissed look.  Hula Bronze body makeup has good staying power.  Michael Kors Body Bronzer is little darker, making it nice for legs and arms.  It is a deodorant-like stick so the application is easy for days at the beach.  These products all have sunblock in them but always remember to apply sunblock first thing in the morning and reapply if you go into the water or exercise.

dr. lips, six lip shapes, the super sexy six, lip classification, lip augmentationSteal a Kiss: Dr. Lips’ Six Lip Styles Makes Botched Lip Jobs A Thing of The Past

Dr. Robert Gordon, a.k.a. Dr. Lips, has created the world’s first and only template for lip classification and augmentation.  As an experienced cosmetic dentist armed with specialized knowledge of the mouth and its surrounding areas, Dr. Gordon is on a mission to make botched lip jobs a thing of the past.  With the introduction of Dr. Gordon’s six lip styles, patients are kissing their plastic surgeons goodbye and anxiously seeking out doctors trained to Dr. Gordon’s specifications of lip classification and augmentation.

Dr. Gordon’s organization, Vermillion Dollar Lips (VDL), provides quality training to physicians looking to provide their patients with lip and perioral augmentation using his classification system. The template reveals the six basic lip styles, all of which are extremely area specific and exclusive to VDL trained doctors only.  Patients can choose from the Classic, Rubina, Cupid, Pearlique, Hollywood, and Angelic looks.

“Oftentimes physicians are over-injecting the lips,” explains Dr. Gordon.  “They inject an equal amount in the bottom and top lip and hope for the best.  This is why we see so many botched procedures.  My classification system actually gives patients the look they desire by working with the individual’s needs, and providing a very detailed and exact augmentation of the lips.”

The lip styles range from the more modest mouth to a bolder pout.  The Classic is the most subtle – perfect for women who have lost volume as a result of aging.  The Rubina is a slightly fuller pout that can only be placed on a woman whose face shape matches the criteria.  For ladies looking for a more youthful kisser, the Cupid style is their match. Finally, the Pearlique, Hollywood and Angelic styles are best for those who desire a fuller set of lips.

“I noticed a definitive void in the medical arena pertaining to lips and perioral aesthetics,” says Dr. Gordon.  “I used my experience in both art and science to create a classification system that would fill that void and allow women to reach their full aesthetic potential.”
Whether seeking a simple restoration of lost volume or chasing that Hollywood starlet’s pucker, women all over are seeking out VDL certified physicians for tips on their lips and are leaving with a smile. As the first and only template for breathtaking lips, Dr. Gordon’s classification system is making botched lip jobs history.

About Dr. Lips
Dr. Robert Gordon, a.k.a. Dr. Lips, has revolutionized the cosmetic dental industry.  As the founder of Vermilion Dollar Lips, Dr. Gordon’s intense passion for lip and perioral augmentation has landed him at the forefront of his field, earning him the name, “Dr. Lips.”  Dr. Gordon is the world’s first doctor to create a standard template for lip classification,  and proclaims that not all lips are created equal.
