Feeling the need to embrace an edgier color for Spring?  Biker Blue–from MAC’s Jeanius collection–was actually quite a surprise.  In the bottle, it appears to be a deep midnight blue with shimmer.  Once applied, the color was actually a softer cornflower blue with shimmer.  Much less edgy than I imagined, and positively enchanting!

For the entire span of my life, rose gold has been considered the choice of an “old lady”, and I am the first to admit, I never thought the metal would ever EVER make a comeback!

But come back, it has!  In fact, Spring 2011 is all about metallics of any hue.  Many of them with subtle rosy undertones.  A great example of this is Estee Lauder Shimmering Bronze Nail Lacquer.  Part of the Bronze Goddess Spring 2011 makeup collection, Shimmering Bronze is a gorgeous metallic bronze shade.  When the light hits it just right, the rosy hue is very noticeable!

This nail lacquer also happens to wear very well!  I’m writing this 10 days after getting a pedicure with this shade, and it’s in chip-free gorgeous condition!

Savvy consumers worldwide have started demanding that safe and beneficial ingredients be used in their beauty products.  So why not in their nail polish, as well?  While many nail lacquer formulas have started purging their ingredients of the big-3–formaldehyde, DBP and Toluene–Dr.’s Remedy takes it one step further.  The Dr.’s Remedy formula is actually enriched with natural ingredients that are good for your nails, like tea tree oil, garlic bulb extract, Vitamins C and E, and wheat protein!

Healing is a tranquil, pale heather grey.  Ideal for the trend-setter.

Desire is a rich, dark pure brown.  This shade is perfect for someone with a modern, urban edge.

Not photographed is “Nurture”, a nude/pink goes-with-anything shade.   I found the formula wears well, and the square bottles (very NARS-esque) are easy to use for self-application.

Wonder Woman is as American as apple-pie, so naturally the shades of nail lacquer she would choose are a true red (Obey Me–at left) and true blue (Spirit of Truth–at right).

My only question is… where’s the white?

Swatch above:  Obey Me (left) a true red, and Spirit of Truth (right) a true blue.  Note how Spirit of Truth is much less glossy than Obey Me.  It’s not matte, but definitely not high-gloss either!

My personal experience with MAC Nail Lacquer is that it is long-lasting.  The formula is also big-three free, so if you’re looking to avoid DBP, Toluene or Formaldehyde, you’re in the right place!
