MAC Wonder Woman Invincible Mirror Review

MAC’s Invincible Mirror, from the Wonder Woman Spring 2011 collection, is positively HUGE. If you’re a collector, you’ll happily add this mirror to your shopping cart. The extra large, almost 4″ diameter is one of the largest purse-sized mirrors I’ve ever seen.

You’ll definitely need to tote this in the gold pouch that comes with it, though! This is a mirror, not a compact, and if you carry it loose in your bag I guarantee it will scratch!

Sweep Me Off My Feet, Mac A Tartan Tale, Holiday 2010

The holiday season morphs me into an official MAC evangelist each year, doesn’t it? I’ve posted praises for MAC’s travel-sized holiday brush bags in seasons past. These portable makeup brushes are of the same high-quality as their full-sized counterparts, with handles only a wee-bit shorter.

Sweep Me Off My Feet contains “the five most wanted brushes for that perfect application of powder or blush: the 129SE, 190SE, 212SE, 227SE and 275SE.” For those of you not familiar with MAC’s mysterious numbered brush names, I’ll boil it down for you! Sweep Me Off My Feet contains: an extra-large blush/powder brush, a foundation brush, a super fluffy extra-wide eyeshadow brush, and an angled eyeshadow shading brush. My personal favorite brushes from this collection are 190SE (the foundation brush) and 227SE (the large eyeshadow brush). 227SE is a Mom’s best friend! When I’m in rush, I can swipe eyeshadow across the lid once with this extra-large shadow brush, and be done! Even though I have yet to travel, I find myself using 190SE (the foundation brush) nearly every day. I ordinarily use a Chanel foundation brush (Le Pinceau Teint Foundation Brush #16). But, I’d pit this MAC mini against it any day… and for the $40 price tag on my Chanel, I could almost buy an entire brush set from the MAC A Tartan Tale collection!

Crafted in a patch-work style of super-chic tartan plaid, the Sweep Me Off My Feet set comes in a cross-body bag. Dare I say, it’s actually wearable?

Scent Genie Review: Amazing Atomizer!

I’ve mentioned before (perhaps too many times) that once upon a time I was a road warrior! Living out of a suitcase is difficult, in particular where bulky product is concerned. I managed to lighten the load with portable tools, like an atomizer.

Sadly, the atomizer I used was NOT the brilliant Scent Genie, pictured above! My atomizer was a tiny glass bottle with a funnel. To fill it, I had to spray, spray, spray my fragrance into the miniscule funnel. I almost always sprayed a fair amount on my hand in the process, wasting expensive perfume! Filling my atomizer was slow and messy (though still an improvement from carrying a full-sized bottle)!

The Scent Genie simplifies this process, and eliminates the mess and waste!

As this adorable little image (above) illustrates, the Scent Genie is actually connected to the tube of your spray fragrance. Just pump the atomizer up and down a few times, and the Scent Genie is filled… no mess, and no waste! The process is lightening fast. Other pros? When you use the Scent Genie, the spray is a fine mist. Some atomizers shoot perfume out in a stream. It’s fragrance… not glass cleaner!

Budget Beauty: elf Makeup Brushes

Pro-quality makeup brushes cost a fortune, but a good set will also last a lifetime.

On the other hand–investment or not—some simply don’t have the cash available to make such a purchase. ELF makeup brushes are terrific for day-to-day use until you’re ready to take the professional plunge.

ELF brushes are superior to the drugstore brand brushes I’ve used in the past, and also happen to be as much as 75% cheaper per brush than brands sold at your local drugstore. My favorite brushes are the Total Face Brush (top), Blushing, Bronzing and Blending Brush (middle) and the Eye Shadow Brush (bottom). In fact, I like the Eye Shadow Brush so much… I have several!

Will ELF brushes last a lifetime? NO! Will they last a long time? YES! I’ve owned my makeup brushes from eyes, lips, face for about 3 years now and they are still used in my daily routine. For only $1 per brush, can you really go wrong? Of course, keep in mind that shipping is a flat $5. So if you buy 5 brushes, they’ll be about $2 per brush. Unless you plan to spend $75 to earn free shipping, it may be wiser to add them to a drugstore.com order for $1.50 each.
