According to celebrity makeup artist Christopher Drummond–creator of the all-natural, vegan, mineral makeup line Christopher Drummond Beauty–Spring 2010 makeup is all about beautiful but muted colors, coral lips, and the bottom eyelid. Here are Christopher’s trend predictions for spring 2010:
Color: Colors such as a slightly shimmery baby blue, a barely there soft pink, and a softly noticeable tangerine color are going to be the “go to” colors for spring/summer. These colors work on everyone and bring more focus to the skin, cheekbones and lips.
Lips: Coral, whether bright or muted, is the new classic that will be explored starting this spring/summer and throughout 2010. Also, anyone can wear coral because it is fresh and youthful looking and rich yet subtle at the same time.
Eyes: Spring/Summer 2010 will be all about the bottom lid. Adding a light amount of colored liner on the bottom lid, which looks fresh and modern and is a way to add color to the eyes without going overboard. (Tip: this color should not match the top lid). Another eye trend is no makeup at all on the bottom. A nice thick liner with rich mascara and a colored shadow on top paired with a bare bottom lash line will open the eyes up and look youthful and fresh.

MAC Spring Colour Forecast 4: Springshine And Eye Shadow x4 Colour 4

Since I boldly proclaimed MAC Spring Colour Forecast 4 as my favorite of the bunch… I figured it made sense for me to begin my makeup reviews here! The top image is from MAC, of the entire collection. The photo below it is mine, of the products that I sampled. I’ll state it plainly… I love each and every one of these four products, and recommend them ALL highly!
The Eyeshadow x4 compact contains the following (starting from top left): Manila Paper (pale frosted white gold), Flip (bronze gold), Aztec Brick (frosted true copper) and Creole Beauty (frosted dark golden brown). My favorite way to apply these shadows is as follows: 1) Apply Manila Paper on lids, 2) Apply Flip from crease up to browbone, 3) Apply Aztec Brick in crease and 4) Use Creole Beauty as an accent (upper and lower lashline). This shadow quad has quickly become my “go-to” Spring makeup pick for its versatility (skip the darker shades for a more casual look, or use them for more drama). I also LOVE the magnetic closure on the palette!
The latest limited-edition introduction by MAC is a smash hit. The gradient design of Blush Ombre in Springshine makes the product so versatile! Swirl it to use as a bronzer, or just for a touch of tan on the cheeks. Or, use the darker section for contouring, and the paler section for highlighting! Either way, you end up with a sun-kissed look that is most welcome!
Retail price is $25 for Springshine Blush Ombre, and $36 for Eye Shadow x4 Colour 4.

MAC Spring Colour Forecast: Four Shade Families!

Four color stories, and four distinct moods captured in the form of cosmetics! Known for their breadth of product selection and depth of color options, the MAC Spring Colour Forecast is a dizzyingly immense collection even by MAC standards… and–while well loved–was quite a homework assignment for me! In the coming days, I’ll be posting reviews and swatches of products from each of the four makeup groups.
Spring Colour Forecast by MAC Cosmetics contains four different sub-collections: Coral, Pink/Lavender, Yellow/Gold and Plum/Burgundy… The collection also includes two new limited-life introductions: Crush Metal Pigment and Blush Ombre.
What do I love most about this collection? Sampling different colors from each of the groups, I learned something interesting about my personal makeup preferences. While I assumed after a quick glance that Spring Colour Forecast 2 would obviously be my favorite, sampling the products has me wholeheartedly endorsing Spring Colour Forecast 4 as the “must-have” pick for Spring. Filled with shimmery nudes, subtle bronzes and sheer golds… it’s easy to make these shades work for just about any style or complexion.

MAC Viva Glam Swatches: Cyndi Lauper Lipstick

Generally, I respect a celebrity’s right to lead a normal life free of fan harrassment. I’ve run into my share of famous people while going about my business, and have almost always left them alone.
Except for the time I crossed paths with Cyndi Lauper while roaming the halls of NBC-10 Philadelphia. Understanding the fact that she was most certainly very busy that day, I simply had to stop her for an autograph. There she was, adorably petite, perfect-skinned and yellow haired. I HAD to have proof that I saw her in the flesh! All I had was a post-it note, and Cyndi complied by writing her well-known “love peace” autograph on my little scrap of paper. What a thrill it was for me!
So why did I stop Cyndi? Well, beyond being an amazingly talented singer and songwriter–Cyndi Lauper was a fashion icon for women who came of age in the mid-80s. If my parents hadn’t vehemently objected, I most certainly would have sported her flame-red hairstyle made famous in her Girls Just Wanna Have Fun video! Perhaps it is this deep-rooted love for Cyndi’s feminine but flaunt-it style that makes me gravitate to her Viva Glam Lipstick: Cyndi.
This deep shade is described as “light coral red” by MAC. To me, it’s appearance is more of a deep hot pink, with just a touch of coral. It’s the perfect bright-mouthed lipstick shade for Spring 2010… and don’t forget that 100% of the proceeds are donated to the MAC Aids Fund!
Retail price is $14.
