Kiehl’s is set to launch its first ever organic skin care collection, reports today’s Women’s Wear Daily. The four-item line up contains the Brazilian Açaí berry, whose “superior antioxidant properties,” says Chris Salgardo, president of Kiehl’s USA, help combat environmental aggressors and stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process. The products are due out in mid-September and will be available at over 250 specialty stores in the U.S.,including 33 free standing Kiehl’s stores.
Benefit Cosmetics Fall 2009: Where There’s Smoke
If I had to pick one word to describe these silky shadows by Benefit Cosmetics, that would be it. In the world of eyeshadow, it's the ultimate compliment. The ability to blend well is the difference between a professional, perfect result–and an amateurish, childish mess.
One of the latest shades to join the club of Benefit's Velvet Eyeshadow is "Where There's Smoke", a deep, dusky shade of Pewter. Want to achieve a sexy, smoky eye with just one product? You're in luck! This utterly blendable formula makes it possible!
Here's how:
Step 1, apply "Where There's Smoke" heavily to the lid with a shadow brush, up to the crease.
Step 2, use your finger to gently blend the shadow into the crease.
Step 3: gradually blend upward, following the shape of the crease with your finger.
Congratulations! You just created a beautiful smoky eye with one product, and in 2 minutes flat! It's a date-worthy look, to say the least. Give it a try yourself!
Retail price is $18.

Planet Skincare: Welcome To The USA!

If you've never watched Absolutely Fabulous, let me just pause for a moment and tell you to quickly get your hands on season one. I found it screamingly funny, and think you will too.
Back to this post. The second I read about these anti-aging products by Planet Skincare, I knew it was the kind of product Patsy Stone of AbFab would fall all over herself to get her hands on. While the character of Patsy and I have little in common, our constant search for the fountain of youth is one similarity.
Why is Planet Skincare beloved by beauty addicts across the pond? They contain synthetic snake-venom (called Syn-ake®) which mimics the results of botox, only it's applied topically!
Instant Firming Serum ($145, pictured at left) works in conjunction with Anti-Aging Daily Moisturizer ($115, pictured at right). I've only recently started using this dynamic duo, but am already quite impressed with the results on my skin… especially the pesky little lines on my forehead. I can't wait to see what the long-term benefits will be!

MAC: Nail Trend By Jin Soon Choi

I love Red.
I own Red cars, the notebook computer I am using is red, the camera I want is red… the list goes on and on. So when I first spied this bottle of MAC Nail Lacquer from the Nail Trend collection (named "Dance All Night"), I was immediately smitten. Here's how the conversation went with my son:
ME: Oh… My… God…
FOUR YEAR OLD SON: What?
ME: Is this the most gorgeous color you have ever seen?
FOUR YEAR OLD SON: (Contemplates bottle) Yeah, that sure is a nice shade of dark red!
My son, a burgeoning artist, certainly appreciated the color. Only days later, when I had my first mani/pedi opportunity, I toted this polish with me. Sure… I am totally rushing the season a bit, but I had to see how this looked on my nails, asap!
This luxe brick red (a deep, brownish-red shade) is a beautiful accompaniment to any Fall wardrobe. Not only is MAC Nail Lacquer free of DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde… but it is also long-wearing! A must for busy-women who don't have time for chipped nails.

For your reading pleasure, here's the text of a Q&A with Jin Soon on this masterful collaboration:
Q: M·A·C and Jin Soon – it feels like such a natural match for your first-ever brand collaboration. How did the collaboration come about?
A: It was important to me to partner with a brand that embraced bold trend-driven colours and had a strong tie to fashion – and M·A·C is all about that. From the beginning with M·A·C, everything flowed naturally, and there was a real connection in the development of this collection. As soon as we started working together, I was able to unleash my vision and really express myself through these fashion-forward colours. M·A·C really got the direction I was going in and encouraged me throughout the whole process.
Q: What was first on the agenda with this collaboration?
A: I’ve opened three Jin Soon Hand and Foot Spas in New York City over the last 10 years, with that I have a direct connection and knowledge about the colours and textures real women want for their nails. In the past couple of years women have forgone beige, neutral colors and instead, opted for colours that were once thought of as experimental, shades only a celebrity or model would wear – I’m talking about blues, blacks and deep purples. Now, women are pushing the envelope even further when it comes to nail colours. I wanted to take that one step further and expand the colour range with this collection, giving women even bolder nail colour choices.
Q: Mission accomplished with these colours – what helped inspire the range?
A: My husband is an architect, and I am constantly drawing inspiration and colour ideas from his creations.
I also have tons of exposure to fashion trends through my work at the fashion shows and on magazine shoots. I wanted to create colours that were not only incredibly fashion-forward and edgy, with an editorial feel to them but also were totally wearable for the everyday women. I love all of the colours but am especially excited about the green hues: Dry Martini and Beyond Jealous. I think come Fall ‘09, green is going to be THE colour.
Q: Beyond Jealous is the green shade we saw on the models nails at the Doo.Ri Fall/Winter 2009 show?
A: Yes, straight from the runway. Doo.Ri wanted a strong, tough look to go with her collection so that’s how we chose the colour. The green on the nails made a strong statement and was the perfect compliment to her collection. It looked beautiful.
