Minerals are where it’s at these days, with even drugstore brands joining in the party. Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil is a great way to introduce yourself to the concept. It’s a shade suitable for most skin colors, and is an ideal finishing powder, making your skin absolutely radiant. Mineral Veil is also a relatively economical choice, at $19 for a .47 oz jar.
Off Topic: The Roomba
Ok, this is off-topic, but the more I write this blog, the more I realize that there will be many off-topic posts.
I purchased a Roomba and a Scooba in December ’06, and can’t say enough positive things about them. My house is cleaner than ever, with most rooms vacuumed at least once a week. My kitchen floor gets the 2x a week cleaning it needs (since our toddler enjoys throwing his food everywhere routinely).
Originally, my little one was totally freaked by our robots. Can’t say I blame him. But– unlike our Dyson– I could leave the room with him while they’re running, to avoid spooking him. His fear was temporary. Over time, he has come to regard the Roomba as a pet of sorts and loves to watch him in action.
Best part, they can reach in places that would take so much effort for me to clean. Under the beds, under the entertainment center, under dressers and nightstands. I love them!
Warning: Do not set your home alarm while they are in action. They will set off your motion detectors!
The T3
I had wanted to try the T3 Tourmaline hairdryer ever since I read about its superior performance. But, the hefty $150 price had scared me off, at least temporarily. Just when I had rationalized the purchase–my in-laws bought me to one for Christmas.
What a treat! The dryer is feather-light, and is much quieter than my old Conair (a useful trait when you usually dry your hair during baby’s naptime). Most importantly, my hair feels silky smooth when I’m done styling, and comes out straighter than ever. Impressive!
The Definition of Insanity
I’ve heard it said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results. I guess I’m crazy then, because when I went to get a manicure and pedicure on Saturday, I chose the Chanel polish.
Here’s how it went down… 9:30 a.m., get manicure and pedicure. 6:30 p.m., notice first chip in polish.
I couldn’t help myself! Even knowing what I know about the quality, I refused to take my own advice because the rich color of my “Pulsion” polish was beckoning!
Beauty Deal… From Time Magazine?
It probably doesn’t happen often that a column in Time magazine would point to a great beauty deal. In their January 29th issue, however, they mentioned “Test Tube”. I immediately signed up.
An annual subscription to Test Tube is $100 (plus additional shipping), and four times a year you will be shipped a tube-shaped container filled with large beauty samples. According to Time, the cosmetics themselves are worth about 8 times the cost of the subscription.
I’ll be sure to let you all know if I come upon anything great!
