Recently, my husband and I enjoyed our first overnight getaway since our son was born. Our 24 hour excursion was so relaxing, I felt like I had been on vacation for a week. The experience prompted me to dream of the fun family trips we can plan for the summer. Naturally, this train of thought also led me to think about all of the cool travel products I’ve seen and used lately. This week is dedicated to them! Enjoy!

Time To Purge?
Like many of us, my collection of cosmetics is a bit out of control. Due to lack of space, I recently purged my collection of any product that was old and/or rarely used. This exercise got me wondering just how long we should be hanging on to all of this fun stuff we’re buying. According to an article entitled "Makeup Shelf Life" by Chrissy Dolezal, these guidelines should be used:
Of course, if at any time your cosmetics seem to change color or odor, chuck them immediately!
Burt’s Bees Coconut Foot Creme
With sandal season quickly approaching, it’s time to pay some extra attention to the toes that have been languishing under leather boots all winter.
A reader of Raging Rouge insisted that I review some Burt’s Bees product, so I chose the Coconut Foot Creme. It smells deliciously tropical, and worn under socks overnight it works wonders on softening the skin.
Blinc Lash Primer

Recently I added a new step to my beauty regimen: Blinc Lash Primer. This vitamin-enriched cream conditions and heals delicate lash hair. Used prior to mascara application, it creates a base coat to amplify the effect of mascara. Used before bed, it soaks into the lashes to keep them soft and strong.
Think about the time and money you spend caring for the hair on your head. Don’t you think your lashes deserve a fraction of that attention?
Off-Label Use: Tarte Eyeshadow
My Tarte eyeshadow in “Valley of the Dolls” is practically empty, so I’ll need to snag myself a replacement quickly. Here’s the interesting thing… I rarely use this eyeshadow on my eyes. Because my skin is so fair, this shimmery white shadow makes a perfect highlighter–one that adds more contrast than many products marketed as highlighters.
I’d love to hear from any of you, if you have an “off-label” use for a favorite product.
